New comment - complaint - request...

Having a file name length limited to 53 characters when the PrusaSlicer creates filenames like WhateverMyModelName_0.1mm_PLA_MINI_3d2h36m.gcode is very difficult to deal with.

Can we get an increased filename length ?

Wow. I look forward to every update. I like to learn new things. And many questions arise when you want to do something unreal.

I was trying to add printable pdf's for the Covid-19 prusa face shield rc2 so that people could print the template directly. I am not able to attach my pdf files to a new remix in the prusa community. The web site says it doesn't recognize the file type because the files are corrupted or not supported.

I have attached the pdf's here.

8.5x11" printable face shield plastic template PDF

240x240mm printable face shield plastic template PDF

Thanks!

It appears that download counts are now missing from individual prints, and total download count is not being updated.

@kevin-quiggle

I read somewhere ( I think Jo mentioned it on twitter) that the number of downloads of their mask meant that the counter software was causing significant load on the server so they had disabled it for now.

Totally understandable. I thought it might be something like that; thanks for the clarification.

The database is nice but the rating system must be improved. No one will download the files and return back in a few days just to put a star... It's not a surprise for me that among the "top 20" most downloaded prints there are several with zero ratings.

Another thing that bothers me is the limited list of printers supported...Is this a site only for Prusa customers?

Is there any way to put a print in more than one category? Short of uploading it multiple times and selecting a different category each time.

I take it from the silence that I have to upload multiple copies, one for each category they fit in. 😞

Go to your item, select add to category, select a category. Repeat. Tell us if it works.

Although not as full-featured as Thingiverse, it is more user friendly.  Thingverse popups make it a hazard.

@billcampbell

I did not see an option to add to a category in draft mode or once published. I can only see option to add to a collection. Unfortunately, I seem to be stuck in the "best choice" category only. Oh well.

Hi!

I'd like to know where to file issues/bugs.

I just found an issue where photos don't honor exif rotation information.

See: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/30466-simple-human-automatic-soap-dispenser-retainer

and: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/29374-anova-stand-sous-vide-immersion-circulator

Where should we be submitting these?

Thanks!

I'm missing a feature, perhaps a history-tab?, where you can see your old downloaded models and find your own comments on things made.

Kind of how the alert-tab is until you clear the messages.

I am not a big fan of people uploading gcode files as objects and remixes. Users don't seem to understand that's what the "user print files" tab is for. Perhaps this can be blocked and explained if a user uploads just a gcode file but no object?

Examples:

I might be oldschool, but I still like to slice the objects myself 😉 And with the main object being hidden inside a lot of user's print files, this is no fun to dig around.

For more complicated builds it would be really great if one could upload instructions as PDF file. It is somehow strange that one has to put a link to a third party hosting site for that.

It seems we can't upload files other than gcode, stl or amf/3mf. I tried uploading the Fusion 360 source file with no luck. I'd also like to upload some OpenSCAD source code. It seems I still have a need for Thingiverse. Hopefully these issues will be ironed out soon.

Is 3mf a way to make fusion portable with the raw design that would make it editable?  I like to be able to tweak designs.
