RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
I find it very smart to reward those who print and not those who draw, what if we all stopped publishing our drawings?
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
People really need to stop seeing Prusameters as "payment" for "work". It's a reward - a little thank you to give a little appreciation back. not something to collect to get free stuff.
I like that perspective. The only way to get serious Prusameters anyway is to produce models that many people download, every month. And that's certainly not bookmarks or doorknobs or tessellating patterns (fool that I am, I thought bookmarks was the low point of the flash contests…) And certainly not posting makes.
I completely agree that it is a reward system and not a payment system, I just wondered how the number of prusameters was calculated.
The makes I posted would have been printed anyway, as they were gifts for friends. It's just too bad that someone is trying to hack the system to get "free" prusameters.
As a designer of models, I am happy to receive an appreciation in the form of prusameters for uploading models. Although most of my models are technical and typically have a smaller audience and rarely reach the minimum requirement of 3 likes and 30 downloads per 30 days.

The way I see it, the system is set up so you can basically get yourself to one free spool of filament by filling out the registration, posting your first 10 models, making 3 collections, and then posting a reasonable number of makes. It's a thank you for participating in the website. Beyond that, yeah, you need to put some serious effort and skill into designing models that a lot of people want to download.

This is kind of where I am at. I have only posted models or makes that solved a particular problem that I needed solved regardless of the existence of the Printables site. Probably all of my models could be improved but they got the job done for me, so they might also be (and some of them have been) useful to others. My "most popular" model was also the first one I posted... It's a stupid little countersunk trim washer for M3 screws that solved a particular mounting problem for me. Some I haven't posted because they were either too specialized, or incorporated parts that I machined which the 3d model would be useless without.
A couple things have made my day more than any amount of prusameters might have. The first was having a make and a 5 star rating from a winner of one of the contests, and the second was getting the same for one of my remixed parts, from the original author of the part that I remixed, who turned around and used my remix in his project. That's probably the best reason to post a make rather than getting "paid" in prusameters for it. Let the author know if you liked it, or how you think it could be improved.

It's great that someone posts a picture and gives a rating, but for me, it means much more that there is a feedback and preferably constructive suggestions. It gives me the opportunity to improve the design and upload a better model - win/win for everyone.
The worst case is getting a rating of one to two stars with a comment like: "It doesn't work" or only a picture without description - then when I write back to find out what the problem was, there is no reply...
The person who gives the bad rating is rewarded with prusameters and I get a bad rating without being able to do anything about it.
It should be mandatory that a rating of three stars or less required an explanation of what caused the low rating and suggestions for improvement.

Is there a Problem on the Side as i somtimes cand reatch the printables whise prusa3d is always up at the time
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Yes there is a problem. The site is experiencing technical difficulties.
RE:
hello, when I try to add a make the rating does not always appear, do you have this bug too? (I use firefox)
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
First you know that only 10 makes per month count
after 10 makes then there is no benefit
only quality prints count full somtimes prints like the 28mm statues give you no points or only 3
Points also may apear 1day late
RE:

Yes, there has been a thread somewhere about that. First you need to be logged in when downloading the model and when creating the make, second "some" time needs to pass between download and make for the rating to be available.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
ok It's weird but I understand better thanks
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
The Printables.com site just keeps getting better and better, so kudos to the people working to make it better.
But . . . why oh why did someone decide that gray text on a white background was a good idea? Even in dark mode it is not very legible. Am I the only one who finds this combination makes the site difficult to read? I would think that correcting this design flaw would be a relatively easy way to further improve an already awesome website.
Note to the website staff: If you think I am trying to flatter you into making this change, you are correct. My flattery is sincere though - the website is great, but there is always room for improvement.
