RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Many thanks!
I'm new to PrusaPrinters and just posted my first make, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to add a (1-5) star review. I expected to see somewhere to add a star rating when editing my post -- what am I missing?
The option to add a rating shows up about 24 hours after you've downloaded the part. You'll get a message asking you to rate the print.

@mikolas-zuza
Kinda late to the party here... What @fuchsr describes in his post a few clicks back is really an important capability. For refence, the print in question is here. I had experienced a reliability failure many months down the line and was concerned about everyone else that had installed my part and the failures they were potentially going to experience as well. The only way I knew to let anyone know was to change the thumbnail photo for my print to show the word "UPDATED!" in big red letters across the image.
Not sure what the best mechanism would be to send a model update but it would be helpful to have that capability. Maybe it's sent to everyone that has downloaded any of the files and/or added a make to the author's post? Maybe the update notification is triggered by the author? Also want to ensure that this won't be a vector for spam.
Thanks for the consideration.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Just saw the site is now called printables.com, good name and I understand wanting to separate it out from appearing prusa centric.
One suggestion I'd like to make in the ongoing development (and this applies to this forum as well) is language & translation support, I like skimming printables in the morning but I come across plenty of posts that aren't in the only human language I know, English. A system that translates the post titles and blurb would be ideal or failing that simply remove any posts from the feed that don't match the logged in users selected languages and the same goes for the recent posts feed on this forum, it would be far more useful if it took into account what sections of the forum I was interested in and what languages I could understand.

"beautiful" the change from old url to new url but you forgot the link to the forum in the top left menu (which, by the way, is the only thing that interests me).

Yes, this is something we discussed and definitely want to eventually implement. Optional machine translation, which will often be good enough when the original post is in non-english language or vice versa, when the user can't speak English.

The forum is "Prusa forum", so together with the map we moved it under the prusa3d.com domain and into the menu on Prusa3d.com.

Can't say I'm totally blown away by the new name but it sure beats -- and may God have mercy on whoever came up with this atrocity - Thangs.com 😀
I'm looking forward to some of the new features mentioned in the blog post. I don't always love the changes the team makes but all in all it's great to see how the site is constantly being improved, and still remains easy to use and navigate.

Haven't read the entire thread but since the Printables change I notice the following
The Models links at the top of the forum still point to the old url.
A direct link to the new url would be appreciated (as already mentioned).
On the new site could we add Groups to the search options. There are many groups but I cant search within them as its not a filter option.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
ok, i got there on my own but, if you allow me, it was more comfortable before.

I second (or third) this request. While I understand Mikolas's logic, I'd prefer the simplicity of jumping from one to the other by a simple click on the nav bar.

Any chance of sprucing up the search functionality for printables? Ie allow filters on search results.
Thank you

This should be right up there as a priority, always jarring when search bars can't even use "" or + logic operators.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Did they decide to purge projects during the change over? I have a notification that one of my models "was deleted by administrator". No explanation whatsoever.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
There’s another thread where several people have commented their models were removed. It turns out Honda have requested all models with their name in be removed so Prusa have complied.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
I normally spend a few minutes having a browse each morning to see the new models, Its been a decent increase today, didn't have time to check them all out
If it was a DMCA Takedown notice, Prusa had no choice
If Honda issued a DMCA Take Down notice, Prusa had no choice in the matter. Not cooperating could mean very expensive legal bills over trademark infringement. If the trademarked name "Honda" was used, you have no legal case. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

I'm in no way affected so have no beef in this. I totally get the DMCA issue. Still, if models got removed wouldn't it be a matter of courtesy to send an (automated) email to the parties affected to let them know their models were removed for that reason, which would make this whole discussion thread moot?

"Adult" category for models?
I'm not saying the models shouldn't be here, and want to avoid the discussion about peoples rights to print what they want etc. However given the wider publicity, there is going to be an influx of new users, many of whom will be of school age. Should there be a category, excluded from the view by default for all the (often amusing) genitalia / gun / etc. models that the younger generation shouldn't be exposed to by default.
I appreciate that "boys will be boys" (or more correctly young people will be young people) and bypass any filter, but at least an attempt to filter would prevent criticism from the education community, which is an important sector for Prusa.

Yes. Like I said, the first time we had to deal with this, we will set up a process to handle this in the future.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Thanks Mikolas. I guess you should look at the fact that adnoH ( hey, I don't want this post to be taken down 😇) is after you guys now as a badge of honor and indication that Printables is successful enough now to be a target!
You and the dev team keep up the good work!
