New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Update: This site is now called printables.com
Hi everyone,
Josef introduced our brand new community platform and you can read about it in this article: New PrusaPrinters
We've also prepared a video explaining all the new features and benefits:
What are your thoughts? What features would you like to see in the future?

I’d like a simple way to import things I’ve already posted to Thingiverse. Print instructions, extra materials, license reference with attribution where applicable...
When someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "YES!"

Why did the post counts on the forum get reset to zero and all of the topics I subscribed are no longer subscribed?

Does anyone know how to claim a printer? There are "unclaimed printers" nearby, and one of them seems to be mine. How can I own it in the virtual world as well?

RE: joe-m14 Send me your registration email to [email protected] 😉
RE: peter-s76 The grey layer of the ZIP codes are just a visual feature a will be probably turned off as soos as the world map will be filled with users. It is not directly interlinked with the accounts itself. So you cannot actully claim them - it will take you to the registration and you can place the pin on the map in that location and specify the printers you have, so people will know. However, the grey one will still be there.

Too bad, but thanks, Dominik

Would be really nice to have a "collection" feature like Thingverse has. I already see a few prints I'd like to get to, but I'm not likely remember them when I can get to them.

As I mentioned on the blog, I don't see any way to indicate a remix other than simply putting a link in the description/instructions. I don't know if it needs to implemented the way Thingiverse does (I know there are other community 3D repositories out there, but that is the only one I have experience with), but I do find it interesting and fun to follow remix links on Thingiverse. Something similar here would be nice.

Yeah... ++++ from me too. I've seen a bunch of prints I like and right now I'm practically forced to bookmark all of them. Would've been a launch-feature for me.

Someone from Prusa really needs to get on the Reddit 3dprinting sub and answer the questions regarding placement of the pins on the world map. Apparently in many cases it is specifically flagging individual residences and people are not happy. At minimum, it has raised questions as to whether customer registration information has been used consistently with Prusa's privacy policy and legal requirements in many jurisdictions.

FWIW my understanding was that the pins were lumped by post code and only got more specific if you turned it on yourself. But I might be wrong.
It would be unfortunate if you happened to live in the location where that post code is pinned on the map, though...
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Update: My North-American-centric view did not stop to think that postcodes might be street or even building specific in some places. I too would be pretty annoyed if there was a flag directly on my house. As nice as "find the local prusa owners" is... it's also likely to result in some "hey, this guy has a thousand-dollar printer, let me scout and rob his house" kind of situation.
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
Besides the already mentioned postal address issue, there is a serious email spam issue:
I just received an unwanted email asking for input on a print file I looked at on the website. There is no option in my profile to disable these sorts of emails, and there is no unsubscribe link in the email. This is not okay. Turn it off and find a way to make it opt-in, with a way to opt-out. Pretty sure this violates one if not multiple EU laws.

I do not know about North America, but ZIP codes in Europe will probably always cover thousands of inhabitants. The one I live in covers around 20k of people, as example.

I also can't find where to disable emails from forum notifications (got one that I was mentioned in a thread. Same boat, no unsubscribe or option in the control panel)

I also seem to have lost all previous post and answer history. I'm showing as a new member. I was up to 41 questions answered previously.

STL preview would also be great.
Is there any official stance on linking back to Thingiverse in case of remixes?
RE: New PrusaPrinters - The best 3D model database and community!
It seems we can't upload files other than gcode, stl or amf/3mf. I tried uploading the Fusion 360 source file with no luck. I'd also like to upload some OpenSCAD source code. It seems I still have a need for Thingiverse. Hopefully these issues will be ironed out soon.
