more ABS shrinkage

Just A FYI.

I just became aware that in addition to immediate shrinkage that ABS continues to shrink a small amount months later.
I make covers for BIC lighters with people names on them. 6 months later I am getting them back too small to put a lighter into them or so small the old lighter can not be removed PERIOD. It is not a lot of shrinkage, but enough to make a slip fit a non fit. This is with at least three different colors of ABS. some from Hatchbox and one from 3DREX. My personal lighter cover went thru three lighter before it got too tight. Then I started to hear about the rest of them.

I have a prusa 2.5 multi material. 260  nozzle and 110 bed temps

I thought maybe it was annealing from body heat from being in a pocket but at least one was always purse carried.

Crap  design change again!

RE: more ABS shrinkage

Is there a way to hasten the final shrinkage?

Each ABS filament shrinks and they vary per brand.

I would try PETG.

Could you accelerate the aging of the ABS material by putting it in an oven for an hour or two at 70 or 80 degrees (Celsius) perhaps? This way the shrinkage would occur immediately and not surprised people six months down the road.

But I agree, PETG would be the better option.
