Looking for experienced modeler freelancer (organic + functional parts)
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping this is okay to post here if not, please feel free to point me in a better direction.
I run a small business producing short-run, on-demand parts, and I've recently invested in SLA printers to expand our production capabilities. While we’re comfortable on the printing side, we’ve learned that SLA-specific modeling considerations are critical, and this is where we’ve run into challenges.
I’ve previously hired general 3D modelers, but many lacked hands-on SLA experience, which has led to repeated failures especially with:
- Hollow parts and drainage strategy
- Wall thickness and resin trapping
- Closing mechanisms / assemblies
- Print-orientation-aware geometry
- Organic meshes that still need to be structurall and print reliable
A lot of the models we work with aren’t purely mechanical or CAD-like; organic forms are common, but they still need to respect the realities of SLA printing and post-processing.
I’m posting here because I’d really like to connect with someone who actively designs and prints SLA parts, or who has strong experience designing models that are proven to print successfully in resin.
There’s roughly ~20 hours per week of ongoing work available, and I’m happy to pay standard freelance rates. I’m also very open to:
- Advice on best practices
- Recommendations for experienced designers
- Or a longer-term collaboration if it’s a good fit
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to reply here or message me directly. Even recommendations for someone you trust would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks for taking the time to read,
