Just throwing out an idea to possibly make stronger tube adapters printed vertically

Hello, I printed a 140mm x ~34mm tube adapter+extender for my vacuum cleaner the other day. I expected it to snap by looking at the wrong way but it seems to hold up quite fine.

What I did; model the walls thicker than 2.1mm and use 0%infill, this creates two separate thin walled tubes that are only connected in the ends. The part is less rigid and thusly also probably tougher. I used pla+ with an mk4s. It may be a good idea to anchor the two halves at some points, to lessen the loads on the top and bottom layer, but this can't be done in the slicer and would have to be modeled.

Tilting them 45* is probably even stronger but then you need supports and it will also be less accurate.

Experiment..
