Issues with PrusaSlicer and my model?

Everyone,

I desperately need your help! I have a model that needs to be printed for work. But every time I try to slice it in PrusaSlicer. It comes out missing bits and pieces. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix these issues? I've attached the model below so you can download and experiment with it.

Also, the size it loads is really small. So don't be afraid to make it larger!

Thanks!!!!!

Here you go.   That is printable now.  It was not automatically fixed, I had to do it manually.  Hopefully its close enough to the original that when printed your boss wont notice the difference.

No attachment.  Try zipping the file first.

RE:

The mesh in that model is inconsistent, in the lower (landscape?) part. Even in Prusaslicer's 3D editor view, you can see some segments with wall thickness zero when you look from below. And dedicated mesh editing programs will point out further "holes" in the mesh. So Prusaslicer can't be blamed for not being able to slice this model.

It may be possible to repair the mesh, but manual repair can be tedious, and automatic repair brings the risk of also messing with the sharp edges of the blocks, which is probably undesirable. Maybe someone else here can give specific hints for a painless mesh repair? But my first preference would be to go back to the colleague who produced the STL model and ask whether they can generate or export the landscape part in a way where it has a consistent mesh right away.

The model is non manifold.  It has 556 Non manifold edges, also 38 bad contiguous edges, 462 intersecting faces, 77 zero faces.  As reported after running Blenders 3dPrint tool to analyse it.

Loading it into PS it informs you about many errors but can't fix them all and so shows with the warning triangle next to it in the parts tree list.  Also if you have your preferences set to show non manifold edges it will display those in purple on the plater.

You just have to look at it from below and you will see that the 'ground' section has no bottom, you can see dark green faces, which indicates normal issues (normal is in face orientation).  Even the blocks which I presume are some sort of building representation are broken with intersecting faces.

Even running Prusa Slicers repair using widows option doesn't fix this, its just really badly broken.

You’re absolutely right! Trust me, I know. The only catch is… my boss is the one who designed this monstrosity. So, telling him his model is a total disaster might not exactly earn me Employee of the Month. 😅

I ran it through a bunch of programs. PrusaSlicer handled it the best, because honestly, that slicer is absolutely incredible compared to the others, but even after all my tweaking, there’s still this massive crater sitting in the bottom of the landscape.

Bosses are like monkeys, the higher they climb the promotion tree the more they show  as we say in Spain there "culo".

I brought in your file using extract a ZIP, then in  PS, I repaired the STL by using the Window repair algorithm, then used the print support (organic) option and ended up with what seems to be no material in area of the bottom right top surface. It looks like your boss used possibly the surface modeling in the CAD/CAM of Mastercam.

Anyway, it's back to the drawing board for your boss who is possibly hanging from the branches of a coconut tree. You will always recognise

bosses like monkeys and normally they want full responsibility with zero accountability LOL . see screenshots.

 and good luck.

Thank you all so much for your help, seriously, I really appreciate the time and effort you’ve put in!

Huge shoutout to @Neophyl for the extra help, you’re a legend! I’m genuinely grateful to be part of a 3D printing community that actually cares and has each other’s backs.

Totally off-topic, but I’ll be posting a poll over on the General Discussions page soon — would love to hear everyone’s opinions (and probably a few hot takes)
