I knew if I kept the frame, it would spontaneously turn back into another 3D printer (again). 

Since I was running out of space and didn't want to max the credit card (again), I gave the frame to a frind so he could build one from scratch.

Last I checked they were "close", but its been a week or two. 

(IMO) It isn't cost effective to turn it back into a MK4...

Yeah, I did the math and tried to source the cheapest parts possible and it's more expensive than just buying another kit. Shame really, I would have easily purchased a reconversion kit if one were available (reasonably priced of course).

If you want to get another MK4 out of it, might've been cheaper then to just keep the MK4S and buy a Core One, no?

Perhaps Prusa can come with a frame reclamation program?
Have us send them back and get a bit of money for them 🙂

I'm not sure everyone wants to turn their frame back into a MK4S.      A discounted kit would be nice sure, but at least in my case, I want a backup printer in the event some plastic bit breaks.

I've not priced things out, and the Z is only a mere 185mm, but it'd probably make a reasonable backup.   (But then again, so would a Mini.)

There are a lot of leftover parts. I would love to see a laser engraving or mini CNC conversion kit. If I wanted another 3D printer I would have just bought the Core ONE instead of upgrade kit.

I was thinking about a small router.  It wouldn't take that much.
