How to print undercuts?
Is it possible to print parts with undercuts? Do I need to have a support of the printer at 45 degree angle? Please provide some information on this, thanks!
RE: How to print undercuts?
In 3d printing they are called overhangs which might make any searches you do more targeted. Most 3d printers can print with a certain amount of overhang, more than you would think really but like most things with 3d printing exactly how much depends on so many factors. 45 degrees is the good old safe value and I think the prusa defaults are for 55 degrees. Filament types, how good your part fan is at its job, part orientation etc etc.
There are MANY printer test models you can download on thingiverse and elsewhere that will give you a good indication of how well that material at that temperature will handle overhangs. For example https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2975429
Its one of those things you have to figure out as its so dependent on YOUR setup and materials.
Here's one of my favourite examples of what you can print once you get your bed adhesion sorted and without any supports
