Hilbert curve... more than just a pretty pattern? (Or: show your fancy infills!)
I was playing around with infill patterns for a decorative panel and tried Hilbert curve for kicks.
Turns out it has an unintentional side effect of being very good at troubleshooting - helping you dial in live Z. By its nature it very quickly becomes apparent if you're over squishing when rectilinear looks reasonable. And it's damn near impossible to print in any quantity if your bed isn't spotless.
Anyway, Just out of general interest... what parts have you printed with something other than boring old rectilinear on the faces? I'm a little disappointed concentric tends to leave (large) gaps... but I guess it is what it is.

I use Gyroid infill most of time but I print mostly PETG

Are you talking about infill patterns with no top or bottom horizontal shells, or top/bottom fill pattern?

I initially was just talking about top/bottom fill pattern. But I don't see why something with no top/bottom and is just infill wouldn't also count 🙂

A while ago I printed samples of all the infills available. This topic has reminded me to go back and review the project file.
This is 15 30mm x 30mm x 10mmH boxes. 13 of the boxes are all 20% infill, each with one of the 13 types of infill. I realized that two of the 3D infills are afully small and hard to make out the details at 20%, so the additional 2 boxes are at 10% infill for the 3D Honeycomb and the Gyroid. (Cubic seems fine at 20%.)
While laying this out I discovered that 4 of these infill patterns can't hold their geometry without any horizontal layers, so I added back in bottom layers for Concentric, Hilbert Curve, Archimedean Chords, and Octagram Spiral. One change I made today is I also changed the bottom fill pattern of those 4 to match the infill pattern. I also set the bottom horizontal shell to 3 layers to get 2 layers of regular rectilinear over the pattern to help it hold together in less than optimal situations. I did all this with object settings so this should work no matter the print, filament, or printer settings. (The objects don't have perimeters configured, so you can choose how many perimeters you want for all of them. In my original print I used 2 perimeters and it worked well.)
I designed this in Slic3r PE 1.42.0 Beta1. I was able to load it into 1.41.3 stable but the bottom fill pattern object setting didn't load. So I made the 1.41.3 compatible changes and saved out again. See the 3mf files inside the zip file, should be obvious which file is compatible with which version of Slic3r. (This forum didn't accept the 3mf file as an appropriate file type so I zipped them. Kind of funny though, since 3mf files are actually zip files with different extensions...)

I was poking around abit one day to see if I could see the "code" for the top bottom fill pattern. no luck. it must be compiled into the slic3r code. wou,ld be neat to drap a pattern in from corel draw
