Help with Updating/Upgrading/Improving MK3
Hi Guys,
I purchased MK3 Printer back in July 2018 for my startup. I assembled it and it was running fine.
Then things went south with my health, I haven't touched it in 2 years, I couldn't care about my interest in 3d printing.
The filament has probably absorbed a lot of moisture as I left it hanging on the printer, should I throw it away ?
So, now I have decided to get back on track, my main question is:
Since July, 2018, there would have been a lot improvements, fixes to existing parts, parts would have been updated and design of parts changed etc. What I am trying say is how do I get uptodate with what has happened in last 2 years. Where should I start, I'll update the firmware first.
Thanks for helping out, much appreciated.

Hi Chur...
I would start off just up dating the firmware... Make sure that you select the correct firmware,
there are Mk3, and Mk3S versions.
If you choose the wrong firmware you will get error messages!
The filament may be Ok! it's certainly worth trying... 🙂
Welcome back, and Good Luck!

No worries to upgrade your printer. If your printer is still printing fine, I would even keep it like it is. There are no essential changes, only nice to haves.
Welcome back.

Hi Joan,
Thank you very much. Yes, I have updated correct firmware (I have MK3 not MK3S).
I used the Filament too. I chucked it into sun for day, Its definitely salvage-able.
Thanks.

Thank you for the info. I'll keep it running and then slowly start looking into what the nice to haves are and if I need them.

And if the filament has absorbed moisture for a long time, you can try to dry it in an oven or dryer. It's worth a try, but it shouldn't be a problem to print with.
good luck!

If you at some point want to get fully up to date, you can also upgrade the MK3 to the current model MK3s, you will simply need to print the upgraded parts in PETG on your MK3 and purchase the €17 upgrade kit, and maybe the newer style textured steel sheet. It might be to much for you, but here is the info:
