Help save lives, get on the mailing list!

Get on the US mailing list. Create one in your country. Mass General in the US is looking for people who have 3d printers:  https://whdh.com/news/high-tech-call-for-help-3d-printers-needed-to-help-battle-covid-19/.

Here is the email in the US: Mass General Research Institute <[email protected]>

With the right guidance and stls from the medical professionals, we can provide immediate LOCAL jit manufacturing in our city, state, or country. Getting on a mailing list means we are identified so we can be contacted when the need and right application arises.

Sorry if it hits a paywall, but here is what our Hospitals are doing - and they were where the 1st patients in the US were transported to.

I agree with Prusa in that without medical guidance, we don't know which masks to print and which do not work.  HOWEVER.....lots of us are familiar with enclosures, ventilation, grow tents, and making mounting brackets for lights........if this turns out to be a viable solution, I feel we could absolutely help in rolling out portable decontamination units with the proper UV lighting and power sources.

Is your printer grinding? Bearings squeaking? Motors smoking?
Step 1) Wash your Steel Sheet
Step 2) Return to Step 1

Love it!!!! Can people sign up?

CNN reported that over a 100 people responded to the Mass General request. That's both great and ridiculous! We can do much better. What better way to help when you have to stay at home.

If you can sew, hospitals in Washington State need masks ASAP! https://komonews.com/news/coronavirus/providence-hospital-asking-for-volunteers-to-sew-medical-masks-to-battle-coronavirus

Sadly, Washington State got to be first. See the challenges we are experiencing and help prepare.

This is not a drill. My friend in Switzerland just lost his wife to the disease. She was both young and healthy.

Stay healthy and safe.

I would be really worried if UNMC hits the point where they openly ask for volunteers and public donations.  People like Warren Buffet supposedly call this home......I shared in hopes of spreading the information!!!  The entire article was pay-walled completely until earlier today. It seems like such a simple and effective solution, especially for smaller places, that I'm surprised I have not seem more info on it.

I sent them the details of the UV article and my info to print in needed.....here is the response if anyone is interested:

If you are contacting us about 3D printing masks, thank you! Please send your information to [email protected] to be connected to the PPE Innovation Team.

If your inquiry is urgent, please contact us by phone at 617-724-0200 and leave a detailed message.

To find out more about the Mass General Research Institute and the innovative, game-changing science we do here, visit us at http://massgeneral.org/research

We are working hard to support needs of everyone, and thank you in advance for your patience.

I don't think money is the primary issue here, it's time and supply, and that is what they get out of crowdsourcing production to volunteers rather than throwing money at a volume manufacturer to scale production.

@vintagepc

 Congrats on registering!

The point is to get our information to decision-makers so we can be contacted if there is something we can do.  This gives them the ability to be proactive, assess our capability and advise/make the medical community aware of our capability. If we can help then we get the stl files and have the ability to get parts to medical people fast.

Our coverage is great. 3D printing is popular even in remote locations in the US and the world - think massive availability for small parts.  Further we can manufacture without the dependency on extended supply chains. Yes we need power and raw materials.

Lets get our information to decision-makers rather than get lost in the noise of a panic. You can see scattered efforts starting now like the Mass General effort.
