Help identifying included filament
Hello there, i'm new here 🙂
I've purchased the mks3s and it came with a spool of filament. I've tryed a couple of other filaments off Amazon but the included one seems far superior (athou i have little experience). I'd like to purchase more of it but i'm not sure which one it is.
My spool has the following label: "PLA GalaxySilver, 1,75mm +/- 0,05 mm nozzle temperature 205 - 220 °C, Heatbed temperature 40-60 °C, Made in Europe ,Date 04/08/2021". The box says Basic Filament.
In the shop i can find the Galaxy Silver but it's sold as Prusament and the specs are a little different, or i can find Silver PLA but it's not Galaxy.
Any hint ? Perhaps it was renamed or something?
Thanks in advance!
RE: Help identifying included filament
Good morning and Welcome to the forum.Â
Historically Prusa used to supply Plasty Mladec 'Czech origin filament' I have received a number of rolls of this over the years, with new printers, however,
Looking at the Mk4 kit, the information says-
I can't see Mk3 printers for sale on the Prusa site, but I would guess that in recent times they have been supplying Prusament samples as well.Â
However I did find another company who offers 'Galaxy' filament
https://www.3drukarki.pl/ROSA-3D-Filaments-PLA-Galaxy-1-75mm-0-5kg-Srebrny-Brokatowy-Brillant-Silver-p4804
that is made in Europe and has the same tolerance value as yours but the print temperature range is different.Â
I spoke to Prusa Chat, who said they use PM Filaments (Plasty Mladec As above) but they also said that they didn't know if PM Filaments made Galaxy silver any longer (May be a special line run for Prusa... who knows?)Â
they also confirmed that Prusament Galaxy silver would print with the same settings...
so, sorry, you are no further forward in your quest...Â
https://shop.filament-pm.com/pla-silver-1-75-mm-1-kg/p78?fileId=905&do=downloadFile
the datasheet at the link to PM Filaments, Silver, above, does show a tolerance as being o.05mm but doesn't call it Galaxy silver...Â
If you are in the USA, Printed solid, may be an easier place to get Prusament Galaxy silver...

I tend to use local suppliers for filament as the costs are often better (I am a pensioner, so funds are limited...)
in the UK, I mostly use 3dqf Â

RE: Help identifying included filament
As Joan said, it's probably PM filament. They don't seem to sell it anymore though. I'd go with Prusament Galaxy Silver.  In fact, I just ordered some spools (I use my Prusameters to order Galaxy Black and Silver every now and then). If you're interested in sparkling filament in general, also check out Proto-Pasta.com. They have a wide range of sparkling filaments, and I must admit I have spent a lot more money than I should have on many of their colors….

Possibly to get forum titles or something. Then they can change their signature to some spam link once they have enough reputation on the forum.
At least that's what I've seen happen on other forums.
Looks like another tactic to try and sneak past moderation. There have been a lot of AI first posts lately and perhaps we have got too efficient at spotting and reporting them.
Cheerio,
