Heatgun temperature for removing stringing ?
Hello,
I want to remove some stringing from a print and I've read a heatgun would remove these.
So I bought a heatgun.
I can set the temperature from 50°C to 650 °C with increments of 10°C
I had just printed an AAA battery holder in PLA and inside was some stringing,
so I've tried my heatgun for the first time, I didn't know exactly what temperature,
so I choose 200°C.
To my surprise the strings didn't go away,
instead I could easily deform my print.
In the online video's the stringing does go away.
So maybe I need to set it much higher and maybe short bursts ?
Maybe try 400°C or something ?
Does anyone has any experience with this ?

450 - and do not hesitate or stop moving the air flow. The strings go away very fast, and stopping to see will melt the thinner sections of PLA.
I start the gun, move the part in front of the air flow (my fingers in the flow) and the strings are gone before I even feel the heat. Yet the part is warm to hot. Anyway - the process is extremely fast using my cheapo $15 Harbor Freight dual temp heat gun on low.

I have both an adjustable heat gun, and a small butane torch. The torch just does this job way better (for me). Keep it moving nice and fast over your prints, and it'll blast the strings off. Just don't stop in one spot; keep it moving.
