Hardware

I’d like to buy assorted metric screws, assorted magnets, and inserts for projects. Where does everyone buy their miscellaneous hardware? I am in the US.

I buy most from Amazon! Rarely does the local store have the smaller screws on hand.

I'll also add that almost all 3D printer supplies (hardware, filaments, printers) can be bought on Amazon and you don't need to worry about the tariff surprises.

At 10x the price unless buying large bulk.

He asked for "where", not "how much" . I gave him my source.

True. I asked where. I was hoping you guys had a source that was reasonably priced and high quality too.  The problem with amazon is you never know what you will get. I wish there was a local hardware store that sold small screws and project hardware.

ACE Hardware and Home Depot sell individual screws and magnets. If you just need one or two then it's economical (in a sense). I buy most of my hardware on Amazon and the only issue I had was when I bought N52 magnets and got N42 instead. Nice thing about Amazon is that it's extremely easy to return stuff.

+1 McMaster-Carr.  They may not be the cheapest but they stock quality parts not some unknown Chinese alloy and I almost always get my orders delivered next day.

I would assume that even from Amazon, when you order metric screws you get metric screws. 😉

I have ordered fasteners from nameless AliExpress sellers and have not been disappointed yet. If I would need high-tensile steel hardware to build a bridge or passenger aircraft, that would be another matter -- but with steel or brass parts to use in plastic (!) prints, I don't see a major risk.

Agree, if you are just printing random stuff off of printables, need some screws and inserts then what difference does it make if it is a "cheap Chinese alloy".
