Feature request for printables.com: mark design as add-on or fix, not just remix
Today on printables.com (and thingiverse.com), you have the ability to upload a design that is considered a "remix" of another design. That is, you have taken someone else's design and modified it and uploaded a variation.
The problem with this feature is that people use it for all sorts of designs that are just related to the original design, and not technically remixes. I would say that the majority of these models are not remixes, but add-ons.
For example, take https://www.printables.com/model/152592-honeycomb-storage-wall, which is a pegboard-like design for hanging things on your wall. There are thousands of designs that are labeled "remixes", but none of them are actually remixes. They are almost all add-ons.
So what I would like to see is the option to offer two more ways to identify a model as related to another model: add-ons and fixes. Add-ons are models that are used in conjunction with the original model. Fixes are alternative parts that are address design flaws in some of the original models. By tagging some models as fixes, anyone looking up the original model will know to check out the fixes before printing anything.
