Delivery costs (UPS or DHL) increase ?

Hello folks,

Last week I would made an order in the prusa shop but I see that delivery (shipment) costs were a way much higher than previously !
For exemple approx. 28€ for 3 spools of filament shipping to Switzerland.
During my last orders (6-9 months ago) it was only approx. 7.40€

I contact the prusa chat to obtain an explanation about that and they answer me that it's a problem with the estimation cost calculator and I should wait somes days until it's resolved.

Does anybody else had the same "issue" ?
Is there a information or notification from prusa available then it will be resolved ?

Thanks for your feedback and have a nice day,
Ludovic

If you know the approximate weight of the pkg., I spoze you could "brute force" an estimate directly from DHL or UPS. It might not be exact, but the actual cost should be the same or less than the estimate, depending on what kind of deal(s) Prusa may have struck with the respective carriers.

That's "MISTER Old Fart" to you!

Hello, there,
I just wanted to order two new nozzles, but luckily I noticed in time that it would have cost me 13,55 € for the delivery.
already the price for the nozzles is very high, but to pay so much for the delivery is not okay for me.
Unfortunately my current nozzle already seems to be broken and I can't print any more (after about two months printing with PLA ), I'll think about what to do next.

Yes...
for small amount (or small package) orders at the prusa shop, it doesn't worth it.

I already buy something at e3d-online.com shop (silicone socks for e3d v6 hotend/nozzle) and it was quick and cost £2.66 for shipping. So great alternative !

Re: Delivery costs (UPS or DHL) increase ?

I have ordered quite a lot form the Prusa online store, but today the shipping costs really sucks.
Today I have ordered 2 spools of PETG, am some smaller parts like PTFE tubes and springs. Here the list:

Prusa Orange PETG filament 1kg 1 21,94 € 21,94 €
Black PETG filament 1kg - Diameter : 1,75 mm 1 21,84 € 21,84 €
MK3 Print Fan (5V) 2 7,29 € 14,58 €
Tension spring (1x) 2 1,89 € 3,78 €
PTFE - MK3/MK2.5/MK2S/MMU2 - hotend 1 0,73 € 0,73 €
PTFE - MMU2 - ptfe holder 5

And I had to pay 24,52 € (tax incl.) for the shipping? 😯

Last time I ordered 3 spools of filament and paid only 9,38 € (tax inlc.) for the shipping and I bet this was heavier than the new order. 👿

RE: Delivery costs (UPS or DHL) increase ?

I'm not sure if this is something that fluctuates, but the costs seem to be up to $33-34 UDS to ship three spools to the USA.   I can  see one spool costing $12, but why $34 for four spools that would arrive in 1 box?  I even tried shipping closer to a major city where DHL or FedEX would not have as long a delivery route (I live on an island), but that didn't change it.

I'd really like to get four spools, but with shipping costs $34 USD is too steep.   Should I wait, is my country in a trade war with Czech Republic?  Is this the new normal?   I want to support Prusa and buy their filament; but that shipping cost for a 4.5 KG tiny box of filament is steep.

@maxcypond

I found the same thing a few weeks ago (shipping to northeastern USA), 1 or 2 rolls, $12, but any other count >2 rolls the shipping cost ratio was _always_ worse. I ended up just placing two separate orders for two spools each. Prusa seemed to notice and put them in one package anyway. I meant to ask customer service about it but never followed up.

RE: Delivery costs (UPS or DHL) increase ?

Shipping contracts are typically weight/volume based, not "number of boxes" based. IIRC a while ago they announced they'd negotiated a discounted the rate for light orders, so it's not that 3+ spools is proportionally overpriced, it's that 1-2 spools is somewhat underpriced for shipping costs.
