Can magnets interfere with stepper motor?

Was considering attaching a visual to my extruder motor with a magnet, but I don't want to do it if it will interfere with the motor. I am having a lot of issues with prints and wanted to see the extruder in action and the last thing I want to do is make it worse.

Re: Can magnets interfere with stepper motor?

Hi Bandit, I have n52 magnets on the shafts of my extruder on my mk3 with magnets on the selector shaft motor, the cam motor shaft, and the filament feed motor shaft, and they are all behaving well,
ideally you want an 8mm diameter 4mm thick magnet, 3mm thick will work as long as the visualiser doesn't touch the motor body!

Re: Can magnets interfere with stepper motor?

magnets in the motors are allot stronger. it should not mess with it.

from what ive noticed the motor magnetic fields seem to pull drive shafts center (right where they want them) so I don't think a small field in the rear will really do anything.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.
