Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
I purchased a buddy 3D camera.I just can't let him read the QR code.I have used a tablet and a phone and a laptop. I don't use dark mode. I use a browser on all three. I follow the instructions. I press the button next to the SD card and then you hear ”scanning start”, then you hear a beep regularly and this continues regardless of the distance I use. eventually the camera says ”stop scanning” and then you hear 3 tones like an old telephone. I have already done a reset and I have also adjusted the brightness of the screen. But nothing helps. My login details are correct, I have tried both my networks. my esp 32 camera i installed works, but the buddy 3D does not. Is this defective? How do i test it of he is oke.
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
Have you checked for things like reflections on the screen of the device you're trying to scan? Any dirt, grease or scratches on the screen? Do you have anyway of taking a screenshot of the code and getting it printed on paper? If all else fails I would reach out to Customer Support via the on site chat.
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
I don’t even get the “scanning start”
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
Same here. Mac OS . Network is 2.4 . Tried browser login to Prusa connect, iPhone login and PrusaSlicer. No luck getting the camera to read the R code. Bet I have tried 0 times at different lighting, distances and deleting the camera and starting over. The ESP32 was easier than this camera. What am I missing?
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
I bought 3 of these for my printers. Spent several hours this evening trying various methods same as OP mentioned. None of the 3 would connect. Spoke with chat and the only thing they could think of was that my network password contained special characters. How is it my printers connect to my wifi but not the cams? Yes I tried 2.4 only. Very frustrated to say the least. Dear Prusa, fix this or stop selling Chinese junk.
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
I follow the instructions.
I was having this same issue until I realized I had clicked the "add new web camera" link instead of the "Add Wi-Fi camera button". If I could learn to read I could stay out of trouble...
RE:
With the help of Prusa we managed the solve the problem.
You cant use symbols like & _ - ÷ etc in your password for your wifi network it need to be letter and numbers .
I changed my password in letter and numbers i the buddy 3 cam connected direct .
once he connect you need to wait a couple of minutes because he update the software .
take your time
you got a image when its oke
ohh and select the buddy 3 d cam als default cam also.
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
you need to turn de cam head upwards and push 1 time for reset and i believe 5 for complet reset, then unplug and reconnect the cam (just for the complet reset only)
hope it helps
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
I finally got the camera to scan. It turns out the camera does not like special characters in the password. My password had a ) and a < which it did not like. I switched to my guest network that had a password that did not have special characters and it works well connecting to the Prusa apps
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
já jsem měl problém při připojování kamery, protože jsem měl skryté jméno sítě.
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
My wifi password does not have any special characters and I have been trying to connect for about two hours. If this is the best Prusa can do with a camera for a £3300 printer they need to think again. I did think the camera was cheap and now I know why cheap Chinese crap.
RE:
Seriously? Maybe it’s just me but I don’t consider a ] or a [ to be a “special character” in 2024, soon to be 2025.

I was able to get the Buddy3D connected on my Guest network. You can have a shorter password without special characters.
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code - one solution on SSID
I was having the same issue with the camera recognizing the QR code. What I discovered is that, and you computer type folks may know this, because it's usually not an issue, is that the SSID was actually case sensitive for the QR code - however it's labeled in your router. For most applications I've used to log in to the router, this has never been an issue, but when I changed the case on the specific characters it recognized that QR code first try. Hope this helps someone! Happy printing!
RE: Buddy 3D camera wont read qr code
Yup, this is what I did instead of dumbing down my main network password. Too many devices, and too much risk to simplify it for a camera. My stupidity was to assume the camera was in a "reset" state when I first unboxed it. I must have rebooted it 15 times before I realized pressing the reset button was a requirement. 🤦🏼♂️
