RE: Best filament you have tired?

PRUSA filaments - They just work.

RIGID.INK but they are alas no more, shame

SUNLU, not bad, but can be quite variable and just as you find a good one, it no longer becomes available.

Colorfabb XT I just couldn't get on with this, it's not bad, but you do have to mess around a lot to get your settings right to print with this stuff, but when you do, you get strong prints, can suffer with warping.

Technology Outlet Premium PETG. This is my favourite PETG, but it does not play well with the optical filament sensor as it is quite clear, it is known as T-Glass, short for Tough Glass, and I do like its nice glossy finish, slight transparency, consistency and strength, but not as rigid as some other PETG materials which have filler in them. This is more like a pure PET and requires higher printing temperatures for best results but can be prone to slumping if printing small parts and the nozzle stays around the same place for too long. Can be printed too hot and then it becomes brittle. It is also a good price. Oh and Black is never going to be Black as such as it is a clear filament and in thin sections it is like a very dark green, but with thickness, it does become black.

From their description: Technology Outlet's T-glass, short for Tough Glass, this new and unique filament has some very interesting characteristics with regards to clearness and strength. It is made from the highest optical quality PET-G material. Unlike other polymers, some PET-G, including T-glase are not considered "transparent". Instead, it belongs to a group of polymers that are considered "colourless" and or "colourless with a percentage of reflectivity". T-glase is also considered "water-clear" and "optically correct".

Whatever that actually means! 😀

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

I cannot recommend Stronghero filament. I ordered two rolls of Orange PETG and instead they sent me Translucent Orange. When I asked them about it they said they had some quality problems with the solid colors so they just sent me translucent without warning.  Days wasted I can't get back.

I quite like Filamentive filament, it is a great choice if you live in the UK. They focus heavily on environmental sustainability so have cardboard spools and there PLA contains up to 70% recycled material. All of this is only £25 per KG, I definitely recommend.

Filamentive shipping to the US/Canada is crazy expensive.

I like the Amphora AM1800. Not an abs, not really a petg (no stringing but more warping sensible). good interlayer adhesion. I heard luzbot sell some in the US but not checked.

colorFabb makes filaments in several of the Amphora formulations. Their AM1800 is called colorFabb_XT, and in the US it is available domestically from PrintedSolid.

It's like a question what's the best car you've driven. It always depends by which criteria.

Anyway: My go-to filament is right now Hatchbox, Prusament and Polyalchemy for special colors.

It's always hard to stick to one brand as the availability is changing all the time. I'm not a fan of MatterHackers.

I've been rather impressed with this stuff: PLA2 from FilaCube.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F21M533

Really happy with: Tianse Wood Types

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y5M352Z

Happy enough with: Dikale

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079BYK2DT

And used bunches of Paramount Pantone Colored PLA; 3D Solutech PLA (was cheap); and Amolen PLA.

I used a spool of this for printer add-ons - was close enough to Prusa Orange:

If I were buying filament soon, I'd be trying out this brand ($15 a kg, delivered):

Thanks for sharing such an amazing Blog.
