How can I clean up the end of this part that was stuck to the plate?

You can use a hair dryer, a heat gun, a small torch, or a lighter to carefully treat the surface.

In the future, you might want to use textured or satin-finished printing plates. That way, you won’t end up damaging your printing plate.

Mods for Core One: Core One HT 450 degrees, Comfortable display , Very fast print start and Reducing noises
Mods for Prusa XL: Very fast print start

RE:

I don't know if this would have prevented this damage, but I also destroyed my first smooth plate with some stubborn PETG. Recently I had a stuck print and a mate gave me the tip of putting it in the freezer which not only released the print overnight, but also the plate was unmarked.

I have a butane torch for cleaning up the models. I've made a mess of that once or twice too...always learning with this process 🤣

If that happens again I will try the freezer thing! I’ve seen lots of people use those torches in videos but wasn’t really sure why? I’ve got plenty of prototypes laying around I might that a go. Would you explain why you would use one? Any dos or don’ts? Thanks for taking the time to help out!

Early on I had warping problems using the textured plate and it seemed to clear up with the smooth plate. So I have been using it. But I did try printing the other half of that project on a textured plate. It finished over night and this morning they slid right off. With no warping! Originally I think my bed and chamber temps were too low. I have a heat gun and a torch one better than the other?

Use glue sticks on your plates before you print with these materials. you need very little glue and don't need to glue very often.

Over time, all plates accumulate microscopic surface damage and "roughen up".  I have had PETG glued to the textured plate and had to use a metal razor to remove it.  I often use window cleaner (Windex) as a release agent with PETG, as the plate increases adherence.  I do not use a lot of ASA, but I could see this as an issue with it also.  Glue stick makes sense with it.

As it happens what I bought the butane burner for was a complete failure. I had heaps of butane left over from camp stoves we no longer use, and I bought some silicone molds to re-purpose waste filament into colourful other things like guitar picks. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I thought the burner would melt the material faster and more effectively than the heat gun I was using - it didn't really, and led to several small smelly fires.

What I've moved onto using it for now is cleaning up stray strings, hairs, blobs and blemishes, especially on PETG. They vanish with a quick pass with the butane flame at distance. Too close and you risk melting the object (or worse). When it works it's great to see, and saves a heap of time.

And tbh Mike it does involve fire and a cool rocket-like roar, so there's always that 🤣
