Any one know of a Matte PETG?
I need a matte PETG for a job. Anyone know of one?

I've run across a couple, not many colors though. Never bought any, but bookmarked them, just in case.

If the piece is not subjected to "rubbing" forces, you might get an acceptable finish by applying a clear matte aerosol spray. I have also seen such sheens characterized as "satin", "semi-gloss", "semi-flat", "flat", etc. Experiment, there's probably one you like.

I'll second that. Krylon Satin clear acrylic adds a matte finish to any smoothed print. If you can "bake it on" and layer it, it can be made to be stunning. Unfortunately it is alergic to Glossy finish by the same brand. If the two come together you get an interesting random frost effect. For the satin gloss you need to dust it onto your part to make sure there aren't any runs. Hanging vertically helps - the drips tend to help with gloss in details - and the coating shrinks considerably (thickness) over the course of a few days. Beware - fingerprint prone up to 6 hours. Even though it feels dry and hard to see any prints, in UV light you can see prints if you don't let the shell sufficiently harden.

Wow, this brought back memories! Some years ago, I was painting up tabletop miniatures with my sons and ran into this problem. Another cause of the hazing is humidity. You could spend a week meticulously painting up detailed miniatures, only to have everything turn into a muddy mess on the final coat. Fortunately, I was also taught that applying another thin coat on a dry day usually fixes the problem.

I have a semi-solution for you. Slightly reducing print temperature and/or increasing fan speeds will make PETG far less shiny when it dries, giving translucent varieties an almost satin appearance.
This does come at a potential cost of layer adhesion, however- if you need the best strength PETG can give you, then this won't help. But if you just need that matte finish and can sacrifice some potential strength, it's worth a shot.
Personally, I use that shine to check if the temperature is dialed in- after a print head rebuild (new thermistor, heat block, nozzle

JohnDess beat me to it.
Have you tried printing the external perimeter's at a much faster speed?, don't give the filament enough time to fully melt, just enough to extrude.
Again, this will result in weaker layer lines, but this can be mitigated by printing everything else at normal speeds, just the perimeter's faster.
I do the same as JD to dial in PETG, it should be glossy, if the temp is too low, or the speed is too fast or the cooling is on anything above bare minimum, then hazing starts and ends with a matt finish.
Normal people believe that if it ainât broke, donât fix it. Engineers believe that if it ainât broke, it doesnât have enough features yet.

@johndess
I will give this a try.
I wish PETG was as easy to smooth. Then again, that is another problem.

Just be aware you will show ringing up more and possibly reduce detail, just really depends on what you are trying to print.

@cwbullet - did you buy that PETG matte if so how is your feedback using that filament ? Looking for the same and wondering how is you opinion about that one ?
Best

3Dxtech is premium but it is very sticky. It can over adhere.
Coex is pretty good stuff but you have to adjust the temperature to the sweet spot to get a good matte surface.

I'm going to give this stuff a go next filament top up order I make, a couple of people have said to me today that it produces a good finish and prints well on prusament PETG profile with just a lower temperature.
RE: Any one know of a Matte PETG?
Thought I'd update the thread with my thoughts of the extrudr XPETG which is a nice low gloss finish, not really matte, I've a few ASA filaments that do a much better job on that front, in general it printed fine however I have been having the odd blob form with long strings during the prints, not happening with other materials I'm printing at the minute so there is some tuning to be done with the extrudr profile in prusaslicer.
Anyway my hunt for a easy matte PETG continues.

PETG Semi matte offers a less glossy surface which gives your 3D printed projects a high quality finish.
