Adhesive for TPU to PETG
I am working on a project that requires some TPU parts and I need to glue them to PETG parts. I have tried both superglue and polyurethane so far with little success. In both cases, the TPU separated from the PETG. Adhesive stuck to the PETG, not the TPU. I do need a decent bond.
Searches on the web have not lead to any success.
RE: Adhesive for TPU to PETG
I have successfully printed PETG on TPU with a simple color change in PrusaSlicer and increasing the nozzle (not the bed!) temperature up to PETG level. No adhesives at all. Both parts have a solid bond. I used SainSmart TPU 95/A Black and Amazon Basic Clear PETG (because that was just loaded in the dryer for another print).
It was this model: https://www.printables.com/model/914645-sennheiser-rs-185-hdr-185-headband
I posted a make there that I still use today, more than a year later, and print still looks like in the photo there.

I use GOOP. If the parts cannot be printed on top of one another. I use it to bond TPU tires on cars that I build to the wheels, both are printed separately. Works every time.

Hot melt glues stick both well but practice on some scraps first as it's easy to overheat and melt through the part....
Cheerio,
RE: Adhesive for TPU to PETG
I will have to test printing the TPU onto the PETG. Due to the part, I cannot print directly but I can make a sub part and glue it into the main part. Worth testing. Thanks for the suggestion.
RE: Adhesive for TPU to PETG
I just did a test with GLOOZIT Industrial sealant & adhesive. It holds pretty well as I have not been able to separate the parts yet. The stuff makes me think of GOOP which I have used on different things. I don't have any GOOP at this time to test. Overall, I find that GOOP is a good general purpose adhesive.
Which type of GOOP did you use?
RE: Adhesive for TPU to PETG
There are many comments about using heat to prep the surface for using adhesives. Hot melt glue may be a good option to test. My not give me the precision I need. Thanks for the suggestion.
