3D Printers Anonymous
I officially have an addiction. I have too many printers and my addition just keeps growing!
Does anybody have this problem?

You don't have too many printers, you don't have enough extruders and hotends.

RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
I have just the Mini but I'm definitely obsessed. I've printed so much useless junk my wife complains about it. I have to stop myself from buying new filament colors because I want them all! And I spend way too much time searching thingiverse, myminifactory and cults3d for stuff to print.
RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
I don't call it a 'problem', but a fascination, and a tool that I'm using quite a bit for all kinds of model RR stuff and various other gadgets. I find myself using it far more than I ever intended.
Had I not had this activity during the dark days of the lockdown, I think I would have gone totally nuts!
I also have advanced to the point that I think I can confidently answer some of the simpler and more routine questions here, particularly those that I had and worked through on my climb up the learning curve.
Now, a friend of mine, who got her printer shortly after I did, admits she's more hooked, and wrote me the other day that she's trying to self-discipline herself to not download and print all kinds of stuff that she will never use. (I recommended that she join this forum but I have not seen her post.)
RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
I too have this problem.
Whenever I need space for a new printer (shiny newtoy that is) I give one of my old ones to my son. He is perfectly fine with that although my daughter in law is not so sure 🙂
RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
With my new success with PC and PP filaments, I may buy another to dedicate.

Lately I seem to be hoarding filament, but once the Covid hit the fan, it seemed like what I liked was always in short supply. If I find something that I use in stock at a decent price, I will snap it up.
I have no clue where I would find space for a second printer, but the length of some prints is making me think that a second one would be nice.
RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
I have the same issue. Too many rolls of filament.

Yeah, me too, but it was a much better price before the lockdown, unfortunately I have been working all the time so not had much free time to print.
Normal people believe that if it ainât broke, donât fix it. Engineers believe that if it ainât broke, it doesnât have enough features yet.
RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
I have fair share of rolls too, I got some even before MINI arrived just because I liked the color or the filament was on sale. I poached some filaments from my father too, he does not use MK3S which I gave him for birthday all that much, I am hooked much more than he is. Though I try to restrain myself to printing only more or less practical stuff or things I momentarily need. I don't like busts very much (find those creepy for some reason) and I give tchotchkies to colleagues. That Horizon Tallneck figure does look tempting though ...

Lemme tell you, all kidding about being addicted aside, a second printer would be very nice to have this weekend, although it would sit idle 99% of the other time.
I'm in the middle of doing some buildings for a model railroad urban setting (the first one of which is below) and the printer has been running almost steady for over 48 hours without an end in sight! I've been letting the more time consuming pieces run overnight and sometimes setting my 'mental alarm' for the estimated completion time so I can get another print started.

I know, I missed it too. That's one of the first things I got back into when I retired.
I first got into 3d printing, first at the local 'makerspace' and now with my own printer, mainly to be able to produce various model railroad items. I first started with tunnel portals and went on to do an elevated station, some clone O scale cars, and now I'm doing an urban strip of buildings.
You ought to get back into it. 3d printing and model railroading go hand in hand.

I have a problem too. I don't have enough printers and no money 😋 !

On the photography boards you will hear the expression GAS for Gear Acquisition Syndrome, as in those in the avocation the to accumulate cameras, lenses and accessories without bound.
I can't ever imagine more than one printer, but I can see the same principle applying.
RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
My 12 year old has his own 3D printer, my wife has 3, and I have 20 printers in the garage. Doesn’t seem like a problem at all.

No. What do you do with them?

Did you start mass production with it or do you collect 3D printers? Some pictures?

RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
@karl-herbert
I don't collect them, they are just there for my projects. They were producing some PPE, but not very much.
RE: 3D Printers Anonymous
@charles-h13
They are mainly for my projects, and I also do printing on demand. They were all producing PPE a month ago, not really mass production.
