wood filament

My first big print with Hatchbox 3D WOOD-1KG1.75 wood filament. I love this stuff. Sand it after the print and then stain! For this one I did 100 grit/220/320 grits before stain, but I have had decent results just using 320, just depends on the print.

Re: wood filament

Amazing!!! Absolutely amazing!!! that is a real piece of (3D) art... congratulations.
That is the reason why i just buy a Prusa i3 MK2, cause my dream is to create my own chess set in "wood"

PS: Allow me to ask:

With which Prusa i3 you did that?
And it will be wonderful if you accept to share the different settings of printing that you had use...

Thank you
Regards
Hervé

Super nice, Benjamin
How much layer height? print looks very fine.
Or is it the sanding that smooths it out so well?
I just used that filament to print the Hairy Lion.
It really does smell like wood during the print.

Re: wood filament

What were your settings for the filament? I'm curious to know your heat settings, print settings, etc.

That is seriously beautiful. And I think may have finally stopped my wife from rolling her eyes at the idea of getting a 3D printer. (now to wait the 7 more weeks for delivery.)

Re: wood filament

Would like to know what settings you used for the Prusa. I use the Hatchbox wood on my other printers but haven't tried yet on the MK2.

Re: wood filament

Follow up. I have tried Hatchbox wood on the MK2 and it did ok. Fair amount of stringing. I have to say that so far my other machine does a better job doing a cleaner print.
"Wood" still be interested in your settings.

Re: wood filament

I've used the wood, and yes, it does get a bit stringy. However considering the plan is always to sand it down to remove print lines and to pull out the grain look, it doesn't bother me. Just don't expect to have a perfect print with wood as there will always be post processing with it. Its got actual wood fibers in it, so it extrudes a bit rough looking no matter what.
