Photo for exhibition

Hi Guys

Just prepping for a large (40,000 visitor) exhibition in 3 weeks time; we have been asked to present a "World Tour" of 3D printed models.

Here's the photo I am thinking about submitting for the adverts:

That is the small versions of my Eiffel Tower and QE Tower; the larger versions I am exhibiting are a lot larger, but I didn't want to give too much away...

There is a 2 colour LED in the torch of the Statue of Liberty and an Arduino Nano in the base to make the LED flicker; it does not show up in photo flash.

The larger QE Tower stands about 120cm with a working clock, lights in the top part, IR Remote (for the lights) and authentic chimes, again driven by an Arduino Nano. Larger Eiffel Tower is 160cm tall.

I will take some more photos at the exhibition.

Thanks for looking!

Peter

Sorry, not "Big Ben" there... 😉 The recordings in the larger model are of BB though...

Re: Photo for exhibition

It's nice to see them finally assembled and in one picture. You constantly tease with pieces of one and parts of another but we rarely get to see them together.

OK, here's a few more photos, taken where the models are sitting so they are pretty poor.

How many can you recognise? No prizes mind, but I would bet that you don't get them all...

Note that some of the models are sitting on top of one of my model railways, so some multi-coloured models are not printed but for the railway.

One more (again on railway):

The railway is an exhibition model, 6 x 4 metres, computer controlled and locos with lights/sound/smoke (where appropriate). Here's a video at exhibition:

We then built a smaller railway (4 x 1.5 metres) for shopping centres with limited space:

I have a load more models sitting on top of the second railway...

I bought my first 3D printer to print models for the railways, but the printing seems to have taken over...

Let's see...

Taj Mahal
Elizabeth Tower
Space Needle
Arc de Triomphe
Titanic
London Bridge
Empire State Building
Statue of Liberty
White House

I can't figure out which obelisk or lighthouse you have printed.

Pretty good...

Cleo's needle

Coquille River lighthouse

Not London Bridge (Tower Bridge - some American chappie bought London Bridge a while back - it is rumoured he thought he was buying Tower Bridge...).

You didn't get the Old State House (Boston), the Drakkar, the phone box... And I see Venus there as well.

Peter

Edit: I also see the Cornelius Vanderbilt mansion there as well... And nefertiti (that's a 50 micron print, 180mm tall)

Re: Photo for exhibition

Very impressive Peter ! 😯

Did you print all this with a Prusa?

Your prints must take ages! What layer height do you usually use? Do you use standard nozzle?

OK, Here's the big one...

53 printed parts. Temporary assembly on the dining table:

Been waiting a while to put this together; it's been cluttering my work bench and I couldn't get to my solder station.

I should add that the TPU octopus is hanging from the top.

All standard nozzle, 0.2mm layers. Most prints in the pictures are printed on the Mk1 and Mk2, although some of my early prints were printed on a Chinese clone; the difference in print quality cannot be described!

And yes, the prints do take a few hours. And yes (again), I am a pensioner, but I also have a day job, and a weekend job.

The small Eiffel Tower was printed with the clone.

Peter

EDIT: The one thing in common with all the prints is the slicer... KISSlicer; huge thanks to Jonathan!

Christophe

The house is 500 m^2 over 4 floors. My wife is a bit of a collector. We needed a bigger house about a year after we moved here.

Thanks for your kind comments; I had a feeling that you would like some of these models. I also have a print of the statue in Place de la Republique

Unfortunately, some of the fine detail has been broken.

I didn't know there were a model of this statue. Where do you find all these ? It's too bad you don't have a thingiverse account, I would have checked your like/collect list ...
