Missing support for curves off bed
I'm using Slic3rPE 1.40.0 & 1.40.1-beta+. I'm having an issue with Slic3r not generating support for curved surfaces right off the build plate. It lays down one layer of support and one layer of interface, but not enough to support the edges:
As a result, the curves are distorted:
I've tried changing interfaces and X, XY separation distances , disabling interface loops and pattern spacing & angle with no luck:
Any tips?

Re: Missing support for curves off bed
I have just played around with this and ran into the exactly the same problem. Even if I scaled my test object by 300% it did not generate enough support. What was interesting is that the 300% scale object had support to layer 22, 2/3 that requiered. My solution was to use my CAD program to work out how manly layers of support would be required then use Slic3r's enforce support for X layers to that number. Crude but will work if the curves you are using all have the same radius and start at the same level.
Just noticed I forgot that the drawing was 2:1. Still slicer was not generating 7 layers only 4. Pic above corrected. I have left the rest of the images as they were as they show the principles involved.

Re: Missing support for curves off bed
Thanks, Martin. I'll try the "enforce layers" option as a work-around. It looks like 30 is about right for GoPro arms.
What is even odder is that if I change Print Settings->Support Material->Overhang threshold higher, it generates the proper amount of support:
Unfortunately, that may cause problems with other support.

Yeh it was only a quick workaround for that particular problem not a general solution.

Re: Missing support for curves off bed
Possibly somewhat related, yesterday I designed an object which was essentially a squarish doughnut shape. It sat on the bed much less to the west and east than the north and south, and no matter what I tried slic3r (latest beta) refused to skirt the inner space and even a portion of the outer space where the bed contact was the thinnest, and consequently would not print because those two spots on the first layer would not stick due to too little contact. I basically had to chop off the first few layers back in the 3d program to create thicker bed contact.
