RE: Hall of Shame

Hi Gabriel,
Welcome to the hall of Shame!

I don't have a picture of my latest Blob...

I had changed my extruder to a Zorbiter extruder, and although i made the recommended changes to the configuration, I could not get the printer to print well...
I had a word with Murathan Araz, he designer of the Zorbiter  adapter for the Mk3. and I got PLA printing Ok...
Changed to PETG an all went to pot after a while... I Was not in the caravan at the time, and the print broke away from the build plate an blew my fan shroud, off the extruder...

Lets say I was not happy!, so next time I went home, I swapped printers...

It was only when I go back and was about to load my PETG Filament into the printer, that I noticed the label on the roll... it said BLACK ASA...   I don't recall buying ASA...
ASA Doesn't like PETG  Temperatures. so it's not surprising that the Blob occured...

anyway, I now have the Mk3S MMU Printer with me...
So far, all of the MMU Prints have come out well, with the exception of one print that had a layer shift, so I chose to stop the print.

regards Joan

RE: Hall of Shame

I've had two big blobs on my MK3S+. The first blob took several hours to clean out because it got into the extruder assembly. The second blob came off easily, but broke my fan shroud. My Revo Six refused to do nozzle swaps without heating for a week! I now have a camera and I check my print every few minutes. I even calibrated my first layer to get crazy elephant's foot to make sure it doesn't fall off the bed mid-print!

Oops!

I'm doing a run of parts using the various Mika3d metallics.  Printing went smooth and uneventful, until ... ... ...

I checked on it every so often, all normal, until ... ...

First time I've ever seen this.  It not only pulled the print from the build plate, but pulled the Layerneer off of the build plate!

I cleaned off the plate, re-applied fresh Layerneer, and it's printing as expected, but I am keeping a close eye on it.

You can reuse the plate after the finish comes off?

What finish?

That's just a coating of Layerneer.  It came right off and I've printed several items on that plate since that photo.

Decided to print temperature tower, loaded 3mf, generate gcode upload to printer, start print, went to sleep.
Saw this in the morning, you can imagine nightmare on the other side 😉 .

Don't drink and print 😉

Apparently .3mf had some noticeably increased extrusion parameters and I totally forgot to look at it and alter it.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

I had the same & was printing in PET-G at the time. Basically had to rebuild everything 😫

I feel your pain.

That's nothing compared to this.

Probably the worst one I have ever seen.

RE:

Changing nozzles from .4mm to .25mm on extruder number four on one of my XL  printers the other day... forgot to tighten the set screw,  loading filament ejected the nozzle ripping the heater connector off of the extruder dwarf board...  I'm an engineer, I could repair the PCB, but I was lazy and ordered another one for $60.

This is why I love Prusa,  just about every part is available for purchase,  or its printable.   My printers print 24/7, so user serviceability for inevitable wear and tear items (or blunders like this one) is paramount to me.

Today my prints shifted 2cm to the right, mid print, no idea why. The other 200h+ of printing worked flawlessly. 😀 Currently re-printing.

Looks a lot of fun to me. 🤣

I find I only have blobs when I get really comfortable with printing and forget to check the bed preparation.  That was the latest blob.  I heard it scrapping across the bed and stopped in time without damage.   Hopefully we can have camera blob identification at some time.

Also learned that putting wood fill filament through a High Flow nozzle is not a good idea.  It plugged up after about an hour.   The chambers are bigger than the nozzle so I thought it would be OK.  Many agree it is not a good thing to do.

I was printing some Easter bunnies on my Ender-3 while I worked on my Core One, and occasionally their heads would explode and they would spray their little bunny friends with gray (rainbow gray) matter

Today’s surprise, just a quick print to test fit and flexibility for a design, but a bit too quick making it 0,3mm thick when it was supposed to be 3mm, and it actually printed in petg without failing, back to the drawing board and try again.

What filament is that?  It's difficult to tell from the photo, but is it shiny or transparent?  If it's what it looks like, I've never seen a filament that has such a metallic shine.
