First layer lines

Hey All,

Being a complete noob to 3d printing, i have been having some issues. Firstly is my bottom layer lines, for some reason they are not solid. I have a bunch more questions but i have been sorting them so far by google (such as extruding from nozzle during heat up)

Anyways,

any help you could give I would appreciate. Just got the Mk3 so still learning... but loving it.

Pic for reference, still learning how to get the smoothness, on top layer on one on left, but one on right is what I currently trying to fix.

Thanks

Noble

Re: First layer lines

Lowering your Live-Z of about 10-25µm and the print is perfect 😉

The top layer is another problem. This can be overextrusion. Try different settings (lower value, maybe 0.95 or 95%) for the extrusion multilpier.

So this is the result. The bottom size now that I have lowered the live z has made the bottom smooth as glass but now has a lip. The top level I set the extruder to 95% and this is the results. Suggestions at this point?

Would the bottom lip be caused by over extruding? It's my guess so take it with a grain of salt.... lol

No, this is called elephant-foot. You pressing the material a little bit to the heatbed. Which slicer do you use ?

In slic3r there is an option under the tab "Print Settings", "Advanced", "Other", "Elephant foot compensation". Add a small value, for example 0.1mm and your lip is gone.
