First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Hello everyone, I decided to show off some of my stuff here.
The forum says "Awesome prints" which is subjective, but these are my prints and - hey, they're awesome to me.
I am a professional Zbrush/ Maya artist so most of what I show is my work done for clients.
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
I am hyped about what can be achieved with the upcoming SL1 as many of my projects are not really suited for FDM.
Still the results are very good for what i managed to print so far.
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Very cool, what layer heights/nozzle size are these printed at?
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Thanks! These are all made with the standard 0.4mm nozzle.
Layer height is 0.15, few have variable height on top.
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Fantastic models. I like them very much. Congratulations for your work.
Sorry for my poor English. I try to do my best.
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Thank you, sir 🙂
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Very nice work. I'm catching you up. We got our printer in January and are now up to 900 metres of PLA used.
You have created some lovely designs there.
I might start experimenting with ABS & PETG. We have stuck with the PLA so far as it is fairly trouble free.
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Thanks man!
My machine is from the beginning of February. Kept it going almost daily, PLA only as well at this point.
Looking forward to some PET G.
Wood-fill and metallic filaments are something I'd like to try too but I just don't have the confidence to change the nozzle while everything is working so well.
Here are some more tests including my stuff + models found online.

Another one, you can get this guy from Thingiverse if you feel like having a go at it.

Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Your work is amazing! The attention to realistic retails and construction of form is beautiful. Do you sell the models/.stls anywhere?
Fair farren
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey

Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
Eyes on that snail seem impressive control of supports. What did you slice with?
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
kryss.e, thank you very much!
I did only commissions so far. I have Thingiverse profile where I'll put more stuff - most of it will be free:)

randolph.l, many thanks - I used to work in the gaming industry as a character/creature modeler, but the titles I was involved with were flops. Who knows with the awesome tech of 3d printing I might get something better someday
tim.m30, Slic3r PE takes credit for that. Very well put together software. I only wish there was a way to save the scene as a project...well there are a few other things to add too but they're more convenience - related, but as we all know the Prusa devs have enough on their hands already.
Here is a sneak peek of my next project, based on an model I did some time ago. I'd say that's more of a SL1 territory because of the detail amount but the MK3 delivered the base shape quite well.

very nice definition.... is he wading through bleach? 😀

10x, his demonic powers failed to save him from running out of filament. Luckily my sensor still works.
Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey

Re: First kilometer in my 3d print journey
I decided to make something from thingiverse that I liked, printed in vanilla white and jet black prusament plus a local brand yellow PLA:
