Concept car - WIP
Hi guys,
I've started my summer holiday by follow my dream when I designed this concept car - TeBohn in 2007 (I will print this for my friend who sat by my side for hours and hours during the design process and we came up with this design).
I used Autodesk Maya back then, and I have now exported most of the panels to STL and slice in Cura.
Printing with Prusa MK3 and it truly delivers the goods in good company with Cura 3.4.1 with Adaptive Layers.
I really don't know the plan to the end, but things will come together and it will hopefully looks awesome 😀
This is the render and inspiration:
Re: Concept car - WIP
As a kid (a long time ago), I once had a car styling kit that provided a rough foam shape over which one would slather clay, then sculpt with various tools. I remember seeing pics from Detroit of stylists using the same thing at larger scale. It's really interesting to see how this has evolved. Rather than line art, you're able to start with a fully detailed render, then work towards that. Good stuff!

Nice project!

Ah, I know what you mean. The larger scale was always something to look up to 🙂 This is still small scale then :p
LaPointe: Thanks, I don't do much, the printer helps me a lot 😀 The sanding is just awesome and the sore thumbs is just a nice bi-effect!
BTW I use PETG for this project, don't know why, but had a whole roll with that. Printing with Extruder = 240º and Bed = 90º. And the parts are releasing perfect on the clean PEI, but the first line (in the G-code) is getting more and more stuck and harder to let go of the bed. Are you guys still using the first line?
Re: Concept car - WIP
I like to watch the purge line just to make sure things are staring off well. It's good for catching any oozed dangling material off the nozzle away from the print. You could apply a wipe of glue stick to help release the PETG if it's sticking to well. That strip is very rough on one side of my bed.

Re: Concept car - WIP
Thanks Bobstro, I will try with a glue stick. Good suggestion 🙂
Re: Concept car - WIP
Today I've finalized the car. Things didn't go quite as planned with the assembly, parts wasn't perfectly optimized for printing. The rear window was a pain, so I ended up using tint foil, and I hate it, but the time is up for now. But the overall project was fun and finally I can see the car live 🙂
Re: Concept car - WIP
Not perfect but quite nice 🙂
