Artwork, Experimenting with coatings
Hi all,
I experimented with some coatings and I am satisfied with my results.
All pieces were printed with Prusa i3 Mk2, Silver Prusa PLA filament, 0.2 mm standard settings.
The height of the Voronoi bust is 20 cm, the other pieces have about 13 to 15 cm.
The beach woman and the Voronoi torso were cleaned a little bit with a sharp knive, and then painted with a 2 component epoxy resin for smoothing.
The Voronoi bust was sprayed with a "Chrome effect spray" which looks much better than I expected.
The other pieces were painted with a "Patina Green set", consisting of a paint filled with copper particles, and some acid for creating the patina effect.
The beach woman is shown before, and after applying the acid.
I really love my printer, works like a charm from the first day on !
Regards
Julian

Very, very nice work.

Wow! Very nice processing. I LOVE the patina effect, just without that expensive copper filled PLA.

Love the artwork. I have tried printing the Voronoi bust and a similar male bust and get web filament through all the open areas. Any suggestions

Try drying your filament and increasing retraction a tad.

I am really impressed with the look of the chrome effect spray. What kind of epoxy resin did you use? I've read that some people have success with a few layers of spray-on primer as well. Have you ever tried that method? Thanks for sharing!

Awesome work! I just received my printer this morning. I love it! im doing some test prints, and I intentionally want to see how it prints out of the box so im using it as such. So far, im impressed. Would you be willing to share any more details about the patina products you used?
Thanks!
