Had to burn a few candles to make this thing in time for the current Printables contest - Upcycling of the new Prusament spools.

My idea is SpoolCore SFF – Mini-ITX case from Prusament spools - see actual photos below.

Hello dear community,

I’m once again in the mood for a really cool 3D model, but I’m feeling quite uninspired at the moment, so I thought I’d ask you for some help. Recently, I’ve been printing things like book nooks or RC cars—just to give you an idea of my previous 3D printing projects.

Now I’m looking for a more elaborate model again—something that stands out design-wise, offers lots of fun in assembling, and ideally surprises me. I’d also be happy if a bit of microcontroller work could be involved.

I've been working on this for a few months now... And I am finally DONE. Well, done enough anyway. I am going to publish it either tonight or tomorrow once I get the instructions complete. But this guy was a pain in the arse to make at this scale. Learned a lot of tricks though. Wish I had more PETG. PLA is too loose, but when I printed the prototype I used wrong color PETG on those and they were still loose. So whatever.

The prototype was too large... It took me an additional month to scale it down to 70% the original size, shown here. It's now too small where fully color separating it was no longer feasible. Thank you layer color change in Prusa slicer, so the feet actually are in color.

It has limited posability in the neck and shoulders, but it's there. The shoulders work like analog sticks but limited range.

Mainly printed with the Core One, with the odd smaller pieces on my H2C.....

Pleased with how it turned out!

A new guide on using 3D printed math models in the classroom.

This article stands out because it’s written by a teacher, for teachers. Abby doesn’t just show finished models. She explains how and why they work in practice, including what went wrong, what needed iteration, and how students actually responded.

Many of the larger models were printed on the Prusa XL, where the large build volume and reliable multicolor workflow enabled the production of complete classroom sets and more complex educational prints.

A few years ago one of my dog's participated in the Working Dog Breeds Study of Harvard University's Canine Brains Project.

I finally figured out how to use MRI image processing software and turn the MRI scans into a 3D printable model.

Here I present Pleasant Pine's Cracker Jack's brain in all its glory! The olfactory bulbs in front are probably what makes him a dual nosework detection dog (nosework) champion and good field trial dog.

War of the Worlds ( Jeff Wayne ) Martian fighting machine

Together with three fellow model builders from IPMS Netherlands, we recreated the Martian Fighting Machine from War of the Worlds

He is almost 2 meters tall and, apart from the round steel tubes of the legs, completely 3D printed with the Prusa Core1

More than 250 hours of print time and 9 kilograms of PETG filament

And won the prize for best display

Cloud Strife's Buster Sword (Game Version)

I have wanted a Buster Sword for almost 30 years now. I kept seeing a bunch of 3D print projects people made of it, but always from the Remake or the Sequels. I don't particularly like the re-designs of the Buster Sword, I wanted one that was game accurate. So, using one of the variants I found online I made this version from scratch using similar design mechanics. And I finally have the base model printed today. I have a few gaps in the sections I haven't quite decided what to do about yet, but the model is more or less done. It's quite large and quite heavy lol. I think I am going to make a hanger that I can hang over a door ledge.

The "scaring" on the blade takes inspiration from both the artwork and one of the figures I have.

I also saw people had made "Materia" inserts for it (The green and blue parts) but I didn't like the way they looked so I made some custom ones too.
