3D Printed Mining Headframe
This is the first part of what will eventually become a relatively complex underground mine display. Essentially everything is printed on a Prusa MK2S all using Hatchbox ABS filament (so far only maybe $5 or $10 in ABS.) The mining hoist uses a stepper motor and the stepper, lights, buzzer, etc. are controlled through an Arduino board.
I encourage you to take a look at the video I made at: http://tinyurl.com/RyanLode
I'm pretty happy with the way the video turned out and it shows a lot more details plus some fun surprises. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
It's been a fun project: design, printing, painting, electronics, programming, filming, and video editing. I've probably got a couple hundred hours into it so far but I've learned a lot.
Longest print: 13.5 hours (the box for the electronics.) Smallest part: A book you'll see on the table in the hoist house (10mm x 7mm x 2mm thick. The Prusa printer has been absolutely incredible. Zero problems.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
