Printing issue - layers
Hello,
I'm trying to print 1pcs rc3 model face shield and at around 24% of the print the ends of the print release from the heatbed and what you see in the pictures is happening.
What când I do to avoid this.
From what I see, the problem appears because the print doest stick.to the heatbed from one point...after which the layers are fubar...
Help please
RE: Printing issue - layers
Good afternoon Ovidiu
what filament are you using,
How do you prepare the build plate?
What does your first layer look like?
what temperatures are you using?

Prusament ASA
I clean the plate with alcohol and a paper towel.
Temps...the usual (I guess) that come with the settings. 260 for the nozzle and 95 or 90 for the heatbed (I'm not by the printer at the moment).
I assembled the printer this week and I did 5-10 first layer calibrations. I think I got it right. I did a couple of print tests that came on the and card and all went ok.
I don't have a picture of the first layer but it looked ok. It was sticking to the heatbed until about 20% percent, when the end/tips of the print lifted from the heatbed
RE: Printing issue - layers
Also I did change the setting of the file to asa filament before generating the gcode file.
The original file downloaded was for petg filament.
RE: Printing issue - layers
Are you printing inside an enclosure. ASA likes an enclosure as it is prone to warping.
RE: Printing issue - layers
Are you using 3x3 mesh bed levelling or 7x7 mesh bed levelling? I would recommend using 7x7 mesh bed levelling, which is available through the LCD Menu

Do you mean its in an enclosure I.E a custom made box for the printer and then the printer and enclosure are inside an office that is kept at 19° C.
If that is the case then that is a good start and will give you the best chance to use ASA successfully. If your bed is meticulously clean and you first layer is dialled in well you should be good. When printing ASA never open the enclosure door. You must keep all drafts and cool air away from your print.
I run my bed at 110° C for ASA which will certainly help this print if you only have your bed at 90-95. I would even consider going higher because of the footprint of this part.

Oh. Now I see what you mean. Sorry, i am new arround here 🙂
No, its not in an enclosure. Its on a working stand. Got it. No draft or cool air and 110 or higher temp for heatbed. Ill try that.
Thanks a lot 🙂
RE: Printing issue - layers
Hello again.
So I did the fixes you suggested. now its running on 7x7 mesh bed leveling. heated bed at 115. running the same file and its still warping the ends of the print.
No draftor cool air in the room. I will change filament type and try now with PLA.
I tried another type of face shield and its not warping. Same material same temp settings.
Im cleaning the surface with 60% alcohol 1-2 times before each print.
RE: Printing issue - layers
Its printing now ok with PLA. Same design. No warping. Bed temp 90 degrees C. Its at 40% now and looks great.
Apparetly with ASA has some issues. Dont know why yet. I have a few rolls of ASA prusament, hope to fix this issue so I can use the material to print face shields.
