There is no evidence that COVID is spread by pets and only limited evidence that they can catch it.

I know that quote is over a year ago, but there's been cases of animals catching and also transmitting the virus.

RE: How did covid affect your pets ?

I intentionally live in rural, conservative areas. Our lives have had minimal disruption. My wife and MIL got covid and here in Texas we tend to have common sense and the Dr.'s gave them Ivermectin. Better in 2 days. I got it from them, felt like crap for a week, runny nose for 2 weeks, got better.

If you were locked up so tight that you couldn't walk your dogs, you were living in a semi-police state. There is and was never any scientific reason to mask or worry outdoors, particularly in the sun. The science showed early that the virus did not do well in UV. The politics of compliance pushed otherwise.

We live aboard a boat and actually fairly isolated compared to landlubbers. Very little change in our lives except for a ten day passage to a new country. New country has a pretty good handle on treatment.

Our dog had COVID at the time we had it. It could almost not walk due to wobbly  hind legs. No treatment attempted for either humans or dog. Other than that it was a non-event.

The funny thing was, the vet refused to test for COVID with the argument they never had a dog with COVID. To which I replied: if you never test, you'll never know... some people just make you wonder.

Not so awful as we are. As my dog has the right to go out without any problems. But, unfortunately, not all the people think so.

As I understood, covid doesn't influence pets, they have other diseases. Or do you mean psychological problems?

Pets infected with this virus may or may not get sick. Of the pets that have gotten sick, most only had mild illness and fully recovered. Serious illness in pets is extremely rare. Pets that do have symptoms usually have mild illness that you can take care of at home.

RE: How did covid affect your pets ?

This little guy was named Pixel.  He was less than 2 years old, and my (then 8 year old) son's best friend.  Most nights he slept at the foot of my son's bed.  One day in April 2020, my son noticed that Pixel seemed a little tired, and by the next morning he wasn't moving much at all.  My wife drove Pixel to the vet, and because everything was locked down at that time, my wife had to set the carrier outside and get back in the car, then they came outside, and took the carrier with Pixel inside for examination.  The diagnosis was congestive heart failure, not really any good options for treatment.  So while his death wasn't in any way caused by covid, because of it Pixel died in a strange place, surrounded by strangers.

My pet is not hurt. My dog is small, long walks are not necessary for him.

I also did not notice any signs of illness.

I understand that many pet owners have had to make adjustments to their pets' routines due to lockdowns and social distancing measures. It's important to provide your pet with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, even if you can't go out as much as you used to. You can try incorporating interactive toys, training exercises, and other activities to keep your pet entertained and engaged.

Most of the pets that did become ill had mild symptoms and could be cared for at home. Pets have very rarely become seriously ill. If you have questions or concerns about your pet's health and COVID-19 , contact your veterinarian.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a good time for everyone. Fortunately, all this is behind us and there are no more restrictions

Not for humans ... just signing up for another booster for the latest variants.

I reckon it will be over about a century after the 1918 flu epidemic finishes - I wonder when that will be.

Cheerio,
