Help with Stacks of RC3 face shields

I'd like to understand the method by which the RC3 face shields are stacked.  They come apart easily, and I need to apply the same techniques to another stacked model.

Can someone please provide information as to how it is done?

Many thanks.

RE: Help with Stacks of RC3 face shields

Hi Chris -

I stacked my own RC2's in Cura, it's relatively straightforward.

First thing you need to do is place the first layer and note the x,y coordinates of your parts.

You then want to multiply the parts and use the same x,y coords but shift the new parts up in Z. I shifted mine an integer number of layers plus a little bit.

Turn support on.... Cura has some settings that let you tune the separation between support and model layers which makes it easier or harder to get them apart.

You might also want to use support blockers to get rid of unnecessary supports.

Try your settings on something small and simple first (like a few small cubes) to make sure they come apart easily. I eventually moved up to printing 6x RC2's at the same time (2 stacks of 3 each).

Let me know if you need any more specific help!

@eliarchercohen

Thank you.  I think this should get me started.  I took some time to investigate the existing 3mf files that were provided for the stack setups, but they just showed 1mm dots, with a special modifier "slab" in PrusaSlicer.

Your suggestion makes sense, I will give it a try and report back.

@chris-r33

I’d like to here some feedback on doing this. I’m printing RC3s on my MK3, but I also have a Dremel 3d45 and I’d like to start printing stacks on it too. However, I don’t feel comfortable with how to make the Cura setup. Please post as much guidance as you can regarding you experience.
