@julien-k

Link appears to have issues. Also, new to 3D printing, looking into it because of the need. What is the minimum specs of a printer I should consider?

I posted a link to Amazon for Buttonhole Elastic bands and one link for the help guide regarding Rubber band, it is still here: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/3d-printed-protective-face-shields-faqs_125479#where-can-i-get-the-transparent-visor-and-the-rubber-band

Now after discussing with healthcare professionals, it seems they prefer elastic made of rubber/plastic instead of fabric because it is easier to clean and dry quicker so a regular long rubber band is fine for them.

Regarding the printer, because you are on a Prusa website, you have a selection of printers in the shop, the Prusa Mini is a good starting point. Else you can of course find other brands for around $/€200 online. Have a look here for example: https://all3dp.com/1/best-3d-printer-reviews-top-3d-printers-home-3-d-printer-3d/

All great advice. I'll look into it. Thanks.

Could someone share the dimensions used/recommended for cutting the PET/Plexiglass shield portion, thank you.

Hi

This is a fantastic initiative - thank you for creating this. I am a physician. I printed out RC3 but become concerned about 1 issue. while the design protects against something hitting the face shield from the front, droplets can go above and fall down onto the eyes between the gap from the plexiglass holder and the forehead band. I would strongly urge at least putting foam in that gap or decreasing the distance between the plexiglass holder and the head band and extending a hood from the plexiglass holder to the forehead. If I had the skills to remix it I would. hopefully the comment will be taken as constructive.

There is a NIH variant based on the Prusa design that adds a visor. It's a bit slow to print (1 hour with a 0.6mm nozzle) but it's received some nods locally and we're printing them en masse in MA.

@alrostom

There is an additional part that you can print to close the gap. You can also put tape or band-aid to close it.

It is not provided by default because most of the time, in an hospital, you would wear something your head, not sure how it is called in English, either a full body protection or a disposable hood. And in that case, if it is closed you would have a lot of condensation on the glass.

Hello,

I downloaded a 4 stack of the mask from here, a native PrusaSlicer file(*.3mf).  Some bright spark did things with PrusaSlicer I didn't know possible, is someone able to document what they did or point me in the direction of tutorials for doing the same.

Thank you.

Thanks so much for the links . Our standard head covers at our hospital do not cover that gap. So for safety if dealing with a positive patient, I think it is important that the gap be covered.

Thanks so much to the community for designing and making these plans available to all. Stay safe !

Can I ask you guys to share the .6 nozzle 3mf file for the Prusa design?

I'm printing the NIH - US design with the visor and I could greatly speed up printing time using the Prusa 3mf file.

I deleted the Prusa shield from their 3mf file and imported the NIH stl. It prints much faster with my current .4mm nozzle.

I just received a .6mm nozzle, I never used it before. My printer is running most of the time and I don't want to play around with setting. I like tinkering but now is not the time.

Thanks,

James

I've got notes and a sample profile here. A couple of people have used it and reported success. I have also worked with a couple of people via chat to help get started. If you want to DM me, we can work out a Hangout session or similar if you'd like.

Note that I'm tweaking the profile daily. Contact me directly for the latest.

Hey I had a few questions regarding your profiles, where to go from printing to helping the local hospitals, etc., I DM'd you my hangouts email, feel free to message me when you get a chance. Thanks!

Hmm. No, still very active. Try this link instead. For some reason, getting a sign-up link right is a pain.

@bobstro

The error you get is: "This invite link is no longer active. If you have an @masksfordocs.com email address, you can still create an account. If not, please check with the person who shared the invite link with you to ask for an invitation." I signed up on their site but didn't even get a confirmation email or anything.
