Can anyone tell me where to find the information for the plexi on where exactly the holes are supposed to go? And can we get these pre -cut ready to go?

Is there any support here at all????

 I have asked several questions and don't seem to be getting anywhere with this project!

Where do you get the information on the clear shields???? How big, how thick, Where are the holes cut for the mounting?

What material are we using for the elastic headbands?

Any help would be appreciated.

@danie-vandenberg

Don't tell me to think, the link I send is HHS approved version not my version. It is not my fault, the question asked was a 3 holes US version so I've looked for one approved in the USA. Instead of telling something like this, why don't you provide another answer that is more suitable if you don't like mine?
Myself, i'm in Europe and I'm printing the Prusa version as it has been approved by French hospital staff.

@medic56

Prusa released a guide how to assemble along with FAQ where there are telling that any standard elastic band will work: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/3d-printed-protective-face-shields-faqs_125479#where-can-i-get-the-transparent-visor-and-the-rubber-band

Initially they recommended to use something like this https://www.amazon.com/Yards-4-inch-Buttonhole-Elastic-White/dp/B00W3G33U8
This is more convenient but it is difficult to source it now as you can imagine. If you find it, I think it is still one of the best options.

RE: 3D PRINTED FACE SHIELDS FOR MEDICS AND PROFESSIONALS - JOIN US!

We have been using a different head band design.  This one is designed to work with an overhead transparency sheets from office supply stores as the shield, punched with a standard 3 hole punch.  These are taking my MK3 1 hour and 15 minutes at 100%  and at an hour for 150%.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ae1xxa77cwlvid5/Face%20shield%20headband.STL?dl=0

I am looking for a way to change speeds based on layers.  I think what might work well would be 100% for the top and bottom layers, and 150 (or faster) on the infill layers.  Any suggestions?

If you're in the US, I urge you to join the Masks for Docs (MFD) slack group. There is a wealth of information there, including sub-groups set up for each regional area. I found that specific instructions vary depending on the hospitals being supported, so local info is your best bet for success. I was also able to quickly locate someone in my town who has the parts for assembling shields, but is bottlenecked with 3D parts. I'm hoping to drop off a batch to him tomorrow.

The Massachusetts group is putting together detailed instructions, but they're still a work in progress. Ask for specifics in your area.

I've put together some notes on the settings and procedures I'm using.

Good luck and please update us on your progress.

Hi guys.

Many brazilians are printing RC shields and some lack of expertise to understand the instructions, especially the cleaning.

Can I translate to portuguese every material you have for the RC face shields? Can I post it online ?
You could post it at your website also.
Thank you all!

I am a Paramedic that works in a children's hospital in Fort Worth Texas. I want to help build these masks. Our Anesthesiologists are currently reusing their masks every day. I have a MK3S on the way. I currently have a DaVinci pro. I can start building the frames now. Can anyone direct me as to where I can purchase the clear shields? I'm Thinking I can use the laser on the DaVinci to cut the plastic.

Thanks in Advance!

Ricky

Hey I am in fort worth too! I am ready to start helping, but not sure where to start. My printer is set up and ready to go.

I suggest joining the Masks for Docs Slack discussion. They have a lot of sub-groups for specific areas and you should be able to coordinate there. The slow speeds of 3D printing seem to be a bottleneck, so you may find that your best contribution is simply cranking out 3D printed parts and letting a central team procure the shield material, assemble and disinfect. The keeps the clear material from being distributed among thousands of individual makers who may not be able to produce enough frames, and also ensure consistent quality and disinfection. Some local makerspaces are acting as central hubs for assembly and distribution.

I am printing these, but have serious adhesion issues. Added these small 1 layer disk tabs and tape them down after first layer printed.

Working well I thought until I saw this:  "Check this print for stacked versions (1h 20min per pcs)."

Mine are taking about 9 hours to print (the 2 pieces in one print session), clearly I am not a professional 3d printer (yet). Sorry I have a different manufactured printer but it is a prusa type printer with a heated bed. Printing on a glass bed with hairspray, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, in PLA. Quality improved massively when I built an enclosue. Distribued only 4 units to date.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,

Kim

Thanks,

Kim

@gavin-howlett39

I joined this UK group https://www.3dcrowd.uk/

They have organised production of the transparent visors (harder to source materials). DPD have offered to ship batches of 20+ headbands that volunteers print to the assembly site for free.

@medic56

See the details tab on the visor page https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/25857 , in the section "Visor PDF drawings" there are drawings with dimensions. I found it difficult to find clear sheets for the visor, but was able to contribute 3d printed headbands by joining this group: https://www.3dcrowd.uk/

What type of material for the face mask? Is Clear Chemical-Resistant PVC film 0.04 mm or more good?

Thanks
