3D PRINTED FACE SHIELDS FOR MEDICS AND PROFESSIONALS - JOIN US!
Hi guys,
In reaction to an acute shortage of protective wear for medical personnel and other professionals (police, firemen, nurses, ...), we started to mass-produce protective face shields and giving them for free. The demand in our country is overwhelming, at this moment we have orders for over 100 000 units. We are joining forces with the local 3D printing community and I'm sure the professionals in your country need those as well.
Join us, organize your local 3D printing communities and help those in need 😉
Keep yourself and your surroundings as clean as possible while making protective equipment. Periodic disinfection is a must!

Note: The design is still under development and verification, we are discussing it with the medics, hospitals on a daily basis.
Thank you and stay safe!

Hi, can you confirm the layer height intended for these masks? The info is no longer on the instructions page.
Thank you for all your work

Is there some overview of designs available? The is the official one, but also remixes with bend endings (more comfort), with different strap attachment (for velcro instead of rubber band, for instance), some without the bottom part, some for US 3-ring, some with reduced height etc. It would help me a lot see what's the most suitable given my material limitations.

I am a Paramedic that works in a children's hospital in Fort Worth Texas. I want to help build these masks. Our Anesthesiologists are currently reusing their masks every day. I have a MK3S on the way. I currently have a DaVinci pro. I can start building the frames now. Can anyone direct me as to where I can purchase the clear shields? I'm Thinking I can use the laser on the DaVinci to cut the plastic.
Thanks in Advance!
Ricky

@medic56
I'm also in Ft Worth. I ordered this clear PETG sheet from amazon (not prime) but also wondering where I might be able to source it faster locally. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AAM4454/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Clear PETG Plastic Sheet

What speeds can I increase on my MK3S to speed up print time? Using PrusaSlicer.
Thx

@andres
Based on what I have been printing that should be large enough. The band is aboput 19 mm in Z direction.

The biggest improvement will usually come from using a larger nozzle, though you'd need to verify it works for this print. Increasing temps a bit may help you print reliably at higher speeds, but keep an eye on inter-layer adhesion. You can try the SPEED profile variants. If you're really trying to eke out the maximum out of your printer, you can adjust the Maximum volumetric speed setting that throttles hotend throughput as an override to speed settings. I normally recommend adjusting the defaults back a bit for reliability, but if you want to tune just how much your specific hardware can handle, you can determine your hotend's throughput limit and adjust slicer settings accordingly.
If you want to DM me, I'd be happy to chat (SMS, Hangouts) if you are dealing with specific issues. A couple of us have already run a session this way.

Has anyone tried printing this out on a mini?

@bobstro
Thanks for the feedback. Just looking for ways to speed up a 2 Hr. print of one of the RC3 Prusa face shield headbands. Already using 0.3 mm height, 10% infill, etc. to lessen the time.

Could somebody please modify the RC3 face shield so it fits a standard North American 8-1/2" x11" 3-hole punch?
Would it also be possible to please provide the .3MF file(s), or Gcode, for a stacked 8 piece print set up? I'm still relatively new to the 3D printing world, so I don't know how to set up a "stack" print job myself. Thanks!

@slewis
For the US, I recommend that you print this version https://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-013238 approved by the HHS

Hi,
I am very new to 3D printing and i would like to help my Local Supermarket Staff, Medical Facilities and even the NHS for everything they do for us.
I am based in Nottingham, UK and if there is others that live in UK or near to me please get in touch, maybe we could setup and Network, or Support for each other. I have tons of questions, but firstly if your an expert in 3D printing and live local to Nottingham please get in touch as i would love your input.
I have several financial backers who would help as these will be donated to the above.
1) Which 3D printer for a beginner that can produce the face shields and which isn't costly for starting out
2) Supplies please could you point me in the first direction for Supplies and if anyone in the UK i can get the 3D printer from.
Or maybe someone who would like to join forces with me, would be even better.
Thank you, support our key workers.

@julien-k
it take hours to print the upper part. instead you can just extend the shield material to the upper part. THINK!!!
