Prusa Connect Raspberry Pi 4 with PoE HAT Fan Noise
Hi there,
I've got Raspberry Pi 4 with a PoE+ HAT.
The problem I've got is the fan will start spinning loud every 30 sec or so. A bit annoying.
If anyone knows how to make it stop would be great. Had no problems with Octopi.
Thanks.
The fan is responding to CPU overtemperatures. Without the fan the CPU will throttle and you lose responsiveness.
The answer is to improve the cooling of the RPi, the easiest way is to move it away from heat, open up the ventilation and perhaps to add heatsinking.

I understand why the fan is doing that. I also have a suspicion that it is happening due to alpha or beta software. With Octopi it was only doing that when rebooting briefly. I was hoping for a more realistic answer rather than generic.
You don't have (much) control over the software, you do have control over the local environment.
Cheerio,

Surely there should be a setting that can control the fan.
Perhaps there is someone who knows this.
Attempting to modify the fan control would be a mistake. The fan is protecting your equipment from overheating, address the heating if you wish to reduce fan operation.
Cheerio.
