Printer often shows "Offline" in Prusa Connect
Hello.
I added my MK4 printer to Prusa Connect and Prusa Link a month ago. Prusa Link is working great but my printer keeps showing "Offline" on Prusa Connect. Sometimes the printer doesn't connect to Prusa Connect at all when turning it on, sometimes the printer loses connection seemingly randomly.
The only fix I've found is to turn off and on the printer again. I can't think of anything specific that I'm doing to trigger this bug. My printer is connected via WiFi, but the router is in the next room and the screen is showing full WiFi connectivity, so I don't think loss of internet connection is the issue. I start Prusa Connect via a web browser, not via PrusaSlicer.
PrusaLink type: I don't know. I just use the stock MK4 via WiFi.
PrusaLink version: I don't know...? This is Prusa Connect issue.
Printer type: MK4 (kit)
Printer UUID: https://connect.prusa3d.com/printer/05ae8c6c-5c28-4805-98c3-ace535471462/
Printer firmware version: 5.1.2+13478
PrusaSlicer version: 2.7.2 but I don't think this is relevant.
RE: Printer often shows "Offline" in Prusa Connect
I lost connection just now. I started a print via Prusa Link and monitored the progress for a minute on Prusa Connect. When checking back 10 mins later, the connection to Prusa Connect was lost. No interaction what-so-ever with the printer or any software during this period (no file uploads).
RE: Printer often shows "Offline" in Prusa Connect
Hi, this tends to happen for users logging in from a far, like the US or Australia and such. I am bringing this up periodically but so far we have not focused on this problem again. If you can, try connecting the printer to ethernet to see if anything changes. There is one much more involved solution i would like someone to try, but that's too much to ask as a troubleshooting step.
Also, when the printer becomes offline, is there an error shown in the settings -> network -> prusa connect submenu? What does it say?
RE: Printer often shows "Offline" in Prusa Connect
Is there something wrong with Prusa Connect's TLS certificates? I keep getting a TLS error when trying to connect my Mini+ (from the US).
$ curl -vI https://buddy-a.connect.prusa3d.com * Trying 34.159.33.52:443... * Connected to buddy-a.connect.prusa3d.com (34.159.33.52) port 443 * ALPN: curl offers h2,http/1.1 * (304) (OUT), TLS handshake, Client hello (1): * CAfile: /etc/ssl/cert.pem * CApath: none * (304) (IN), TLS handshake, Server hello (2): * (304) (IN), TLS handshake, Unknown (8): * (304) (IN), TLS handshake, Certificate (11): * SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate in certificate chain * Closing connection curl: (60) SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate in certificate chain More details here: https://curl.se/docs/sslcerts.html curl failed to verify the legitimacy of the server and therefore could not establish a secure connection to it. To learn more about this situation and how to fix it, please visit the web page mentioned above.
I'm seeing a certificate which doesn't appear to be part of a chain back to one of the standard root CAs.
Thanks,
Andy

Hello, sorry for such a delayed answer.
Hi, this tends to happen for users logging in from a far, like the US or Australia and such.
I'm logging in from Sweden, my router and my computer isn't going via a VPN, so the distance to Czechia isn't that far!
If you can, try connecting the printer to ethernet to see if anything changes.
I just tried this. I started the printer and confirmed via the printer settings that it was connected via ethernet. I checked Prusa Connect and my printer was online. I left it idle for a few hours and when I came back the printer was showing "offline" in Prusa Connect.
There is one much more involved solution i would like someone to try, but that's too much to ask as a troubleshooting step.
If the involved solution doesn't take too much IT-technical know-how and takes shorter than like 20 mins, I'd be happy to help.
Also, when the printer becomes offline, is there an error shown in the settings -> network -> prusa connect submenu? What does it say?
Yes, there is an error. Both when I'm connected via WiFi and when I'm connected via ethernet, the "PRUSA CONNECT" menu says:
- Enabled - [On]
- Status - Connecting
- Error - Refused

No, this is done on purpose, some printers have too low resources to support full CA chain in the processing, so the buddy-a.connect.prusa3d.com points to the address with different (simpler) cert (and AFAIR simpler encryption) so that connection is still secure.
See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

And if i can get off my butt, we can try the proxy thing. I just took on a task I have trouble finishing. And so trying stuff aside seems like a bad idea at the moment. Sorry

No problem at all, take your time! ☀ I'm just glad if I can help solve the problem. I'll be here.

Interesting. I am still having intermittent issues with my Mini+ getting TLS errors. Any ideas why?

PrusaConnect website has performance issues, unfortunately.
