Camera constantly switching night mode and clicking?

So basically if I turn lights off from my office the camera switches to black and white night mode and that is fine. But if I have my lights turned on then the camera will constantly click and switch the night mode on and off. The image is sometimes black and white and sometimes with color depending on which mode it was when the image was taken.

This isn't a dark room and i have a light basicly on top of the printer. Is the camera just so sensitive to the light or what is causing this?

Actually now that i'm writing this message the came stopped clicking and went to the black and white night mode even when the lights are on.

RISPONDI: Camera constantly switching night mode and clicking?

I am having the same problem with mine when I'm not using it I have it just pointed to the light in my office. It's not an ideal solution but it stops the constant clicking

I also have the same problem. It’s annoying to have this thing clicking in low light conditions when the printer is turned off. Would like to see some smarts in the Prusaconnect API that only enables the light checks it the printer is connected.

I have the same problem. I'm waiting on Support to come back to me following an email I sent asking if this is normal operation.

RE: Camera constantly switching night mode and clicking?

I contacted support and asked them to log an issue with the devs. Specifically I requested it doesn’t switch modes if the printer is powered off. In my case I have a nice quiet office except when the camera is clicking in the background . Of course if the printer is running there is noise from the printer but also the  printer LED lighting which should provide enough light to stop the camera switching to night mode . I assume the more people logging the issue the more likely they will fix it

I have to contact the support also. I'm currently stuck on black and white image on the camera.

I’m stuck on monochrome as well.

Interesting observation! Sounds like the camera's light sensor is hyper-sensitive. Try adjusting the sensitivity settings if possible, or adding a lampshade to diffuse the overhead light. Almost like needing a sun shield to see clearly in https://snowrider3dd.github.i o" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Snow Rider 3D! Could also be faulty hardware though. Hopefully a setting tweak helps.

According to Prusa, the switching between monochrome and colour for low light is normal operation, despite me telling them that I really need to light things up to have a consistent colour feed. They can't commit as to when future firmware will issue and whether in fact this would address the sensitivity of the IR process.

I'm not happy with the Buddy3D camera and for the above reasons, have stopped using it. I have updated my Raspberry PI camera to version 3 and gone back to Octoprint. The V3 camera is fantastic. It gives a great picture, has auto focus and doesn't need a lot of light to provide clear images. (You will need to update Octoprint though to use the V3 Raspberry camera stack. Thanks Walter Layher (@walter-layher) for this information regarding the camera stack update requirement. )

Arducam offers Raspberry Pi compatible cameras where the IR filter can be controlled by scripts from the Raspberry Pi:

Prusa are wrong about this because my camera switches to monochrome even in daylight. The camera is absolute junk. Prusa have not updated as promised to increase the usefulness of the camera.

Agree with you here.....

Hopefully they will be able to do something with firmware eventually.

Camera is a total fail when I use it in a room with good daylight, but still have to light up the printer with the LED strip to get consistent colour feeds.
Strange thing is, I can either end up with consistent B&W feeds or alternating colour with B&W under the same lighting conditions. Something is definitely not right with the sensing setup.

I've always been a big supporter of Prusa and their products but this one has really let them down.

The V3 Raspberry is working very well for me. I'm glad I got the normal lens Walter, as the wide angle would have been far too wide and as a result, image of the print job would have been too small.

The V3 camera image is very good and auto focus works really well.

The V3 camera is fantastic.

Does it work with Prusa Connect?
