RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
I've contacted with the support and they told me this:
We are aware of the issue, and we are working on a fix. So far, it seems like the issue is caused by the "_" character in the SSID or the password.
Stay tuned 🙂

That tracks with my experience, I added my own experience yesterday (that is still awaiting moderation for some reason) that mine stopped working even though my wifi SSID and password were both alpha-numeric.
After double-checking, it turns out my SSID actually has a "_" character in it, so this explains why my camera is affected.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
I did have a _ in my ssid.

Thanks for the info!
Just an addition if Prusa is reading this topic. My wifi does not have that character. And I have tried with a new wifi hotspot where ssid and pwd only included lowercase letters and numbers.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
Hey, I’m seeing the exact same issue. My SSID and Wi-Fi password don’t contain any special characters either — it's just on the longer side. I also downgraded, and that fixed it. Thanks for the tip! I’d already spent way too much time trying to figure this out…
I'm already in contact with support and will also point them to this thread.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
I just got finished with a support chat and they're sending me a new camera after failing to get it fixed. My ssid is just alpha (and short), password is longish but only alpha. Tried making a new ssid with short password too, no luck.
Then I find this thread -- downgraded to 3.1.0 and boom, it works.
Is it a permanent solution though? The docs for the buddy camera says it will connect and look for upgrades every 4 hours. Won't it just upgrade to 3.1.2 and break again?
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
@DarthMuffin
Don't worry, it wont upgrade by itself. Mine is working from mid of NOV that way and no upgrade.
Cheers!

No it is not, that character is not in my PW or ssid and the camera still behaves the same immediately failing when updated to 3.1.2. I don’t see this solving itself until we see a 3.1.2+ firmware that fixes the bug.
Does anyone know if this is reported as a bug? I tried to find a ticket but didn’t find one, but I am also not sure I was looking in the right place.

RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
The update will not be done automatically. You see a button that tells you that an update is available. I just hope that the issue will be resolved with the next firmware version..for now I do not have any issues anymore
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
Same for me. Do I have to contact support or can I raise a ticket somewhere?
RE:
Not sure if this will help anyone but I was facing the same issue - 3.1.2 always failed to connect to WiFi after printer PSU power cycle (3.1.1 was fine for quite some time before the update).
I had neither of special characters that were mentioned here or on chat with Prusa.
Both, SSID and password are on the longer side (SSID 10 characters and password 20 characters) both with upper and lower case letters, numbers and multiple special characters.
What I did the day it started working properly:
1. Created new SSID with just upper and lower case letters (no special characters, numers or spaces) of the same length as the "problematic one" .
2. Reset the camera
3. Paired via mobile app using new WiFi details QR code
4. let it run for a moment
5. pulled the cable from camera (had a print going at that time so couldn't power down the printer)
6. waited a few minutes
7. plugged the cable back in
8. camera reconnected to WiFi just fine
I did the same once again using the original "problematic" SSID & password and it also successfully reconnected after plugging the USBC cable back into the camera.
Not sure if it's relevant, but I noticed the camera powered down easily noticeable few seconds after I pulled the USBC cable from it (probably some capacitor keeping a bit of charge) compared to instantenious camera led flash stopping after powering down via printer PSU.
Just wild speculations, but maybe there is some issue the way camera powers down after initial pairing, where it drains quicker when connected to the printer? Power cycle via unplugging cable from camera itself allowed it to "save" config properly and thus properly connect back to saved WiFi?
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
Mine actually does auto update! Not sure why mine is different, maybe I enabled a setting in the prusa app?
I was sitting at my workbench near my printer a few hours after downgrading it the first time, working on another project, not interacting with the printer AT ALL, when the voice from the camera suddenly started speaking; "applying update", then after a minute, "wifi connection failed" so I had to downgrade it AGAIN!
I decided to keep the camera unplugged while I'm not using the printer, just in case. Also keeping an SD card with the downgrade on standby if it happens again. Does anyone know why mine is auto-updating? I want to turn that function off.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
+1 to this, but adding that I CAN stream locally but the photos don't auto update to Prusa Connect.
Downgrading back to 3.1.0 completely fixes it. I also don't have a _ in my wifi password, but I do have other special characters.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
My experience so far is that it must be related to my Wi-Fi setup. I'm running three AVM Fritz!Box routers in a mesh network.
I bought a separate access point (from TP-Link, around €20, 2.4 GHz only) and created a separate SSID for it, and now my cameras are working perfectly again on version 3.1.2.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
Well, the 3.1.0 downgrade didn't do the trick. It worked for a day, now back to no connection. I didn't upgrade it and prusa connect says the configured but not working camera still had 3.1.0.
Maybe mine really is defective. Prusa is sending a new one. I'm not putting any more effort into this one.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
I think there are at lest two defects.
one is that some characters in password or / ans SSID are not working --> No connection possible with Version 3.1.2
two The password/SSID works ( qrcode in front of the cam ... connection established) but after restarting the Cam no connection to the network.
Both problems are not there with Version 3.1.0 (downgrading alone I sufficient to reconnect to the network)
As the cam is updating the Firmware (happened server time on my cam) it will fail sooner or later again. That is at least for me annoying for me but I think that only a new version could fix that more reliable . So im waiting for Versin 3.1.3 or 3.2.0 🙂
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
Same issue. Rollback to https://connect-ota.prusa3d.com/file/cam-3.1.1.tar is working.
RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2
Can you tell us when a bug fix will be released to resolve this issue? I believe it's not due to the special character in the password, but rather that the firmware can't handle both 2.4GHz and 5GHz when both are available from the same SSID.
RE:
From a Danish Prusa FB site I found this:
The problem is identified and fixed in the development firmware.
What you can do - try deleting one character from the password, if that doesn't work, try a password that is multiplies of 8. (8,16,24,32 characters)
The problem is in the encryption library that adds "whitespace", you can't control this.
