SOLUTION (sofar) for Inconsistent Under Extrusion and Excessive Stringing after a few years of printing. REPLACE YOUR BOWDEN TUBES

Hey guys,

I've owned one, and have at work 2 more prusa minis that have been operating for years now, and on all of them, the print quality has been steadily diminishing, mostly due to some areas of prints being under extruded casing perimeters to detach from each other and excessive stringing on all but the driest (Vacuum Oven treated) of PLA. and it seemed no matter how many cold pulls, and extruder cleanings and hot end PTFE tubes I replaced, The prints never got as good as the machines when they were brand new.

That was until I decided to replace the one part of the extrusion path I hadn't thought of replacing, nor had I head anyone else reporting a problem with. The bowden tube itself. I bought some Capricorn 1.9mm ID tubing to give it the best chance, and used the included spare "olives" that prusa provides with the printer to swage it on, and "sofar" the prints are looking way better! I haven't tested it extensively yet, but I am now, and will get back with some pictures before and after, but if anyone else is having similar issues, I definitely recommend it.

PS: also, change the default flow rate to 100% from 95%. I still don't know why 95% is the default.

Ok, nevermind pictures of print results, I think this picture says everything I could need to say. this is the old bowden tube cut in  half

I guess the bowden tube is a long term consumable. fortunately, the original replacement is dirt cheap
