Prusa Mini+ X-axis test is failing
Hi Prusa!
I have just finished my assembly of my Prusa Mini+. The guidelines were extremely clear and well organized, really well done! Thank you for that!
Though, during my first calibration run I get a failure on the X-axis.
I did some research on the forums and I checked the following already:
- The belt on the X-axis is not too tense. I did several runs with varying stiffness, no difference.
- I cannot see any wires between the print head and the Z-axis.
- There is enough slack on the wires leading to the print head. The head can reach all the way to the end.
- I hear a small 'tud' when the print head reaches the beginning of the X-axis (touching the Z-axis) and the far-end of the X-axis. But I assume that is normal. It does not sound strange or out of place, at least.
- It looks like the X-axis is straight and in-line, like it's supposed to be.
What I see happening when the test is running:
- The print-head moves three times from the start to the far-end.
- Every cycle I hear the motor speeding up a bit, I think that is intended and part of the test cycle.
- After the third run, when the print head reaches the beginning again, the error is shown.
What else can I do to try and troubleshoot this issue?
thanks,
Bert.
RE: Prusa Mini+ X-axis test is failing
OK, I think I found the problem. I disassembled the print head again and I think the drive build was not inserted far enough.Maybe the length was a bit too long, for the test to succeed.
The X-axis test succeeds now! But now the Z-axis test fails! 🤡
Time for some more troubleshooting then
RE: Prusa Mini+ X-axis test is failing
OK, Z-axis is also succeeding now. I had the same issue as here: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/prusa-mini-calibration-z-axis-fail/
(Some bolts fixed too hard)
RE: Prusa Mini+ X-axis test is failing
I am experiencing the same issue you had with the X-axis being out of range. According to my logs, the distance is 192.2226, which is outside the tolerance of 192.0000. What exactly did you have to do to fix it?
RE: Prusa Mini+ X-axis test is failing
I am also having the same issue where the x-axis test is failing. I disassembled the print head and inserted the drive belt in further, as was suggested in the previous solution. This has allowed the x-axis test to move on to the second back-and-forth iteration before failing, instead of failing at the first back-and-forth as it was previous to the further insertion. However, I have reached the limit on how far the drive belt can be inserted into the print head housing and the x-axis test is still failing. I have attempted the test at various belt tensions and have attempted to seat the x-carriage bars into the motor housing more fully, to no effect. Any further suggestions?
