New printer gaps between first layers, poor accuracy
Hi all,
I've had 3D printers previously and actually this issue is with my second Mini+ the first one as you can see in the pics is still laying down solid clean lines after 100's of hours of printing.
Does anyone know what is causing the issues shown here? i'm seeing lifting, strange lines/ridges, gaps between bottom layer lines. I've tried re-calibrating several times further away/closer to the bed, does seem to improve adhesion but not quality. Incidentally I ordered the satin sheet with this printer and I couldn't get PLA to stick to it at all. I've got the other textured steel sheet also that I am able to get PLA to stick to on the first Mini and even dialled right up to 2 (which is too much for the first mini) I still couldn't get adhesion.
This wasn't a kit build it was from factory setup so i've just completed it like with the first. Would really appreciate any advise. As you can see in one of the pics I took the USB from the new printer inserted into the existing one and printed in galaxy black a perfect rectangle. You can see the effort of the new one in Prusament orange in the same shot.
Not low enough
That is not low enough in my book. Lower your live Z.

You're right!
That said, next question, in order to get good adhesion AND first layer i've had to z-adjust to 1.950+ currently at 1.985.
I'm conscious the machine isn't setup correctly as that is about 0.400 more than on my other mini+ for the same smooth steel sheet.
Absolutely zero chance of dialling in for either the satin or textured steel sheet at this setup.
What's wrong? I'm guessing nozzle is too far from the bed? Would recommend advice on how to adjust this, maybe loosing the 3 grub screws?
Pinda
I would recommend adjusting the pinda probe height and not the nozzle.
