New mini: "Heating Failed E1"

I just assembled my new mini. When it runs the self-test, it ends with a red screen that says "Heating failed E1".

I can find nothing in the manual or the website or the forums about how to fix this.

Best Answer by gisborne:

Checking wire connections seems to have fixed this.

I just had the same error while setting up new printer.  Double check where the hotend power cables are plugged into the main board (next to where you connected the power to the heatbed).  For my board the green socket was lifted from the board and at an angle.  I think it might have come loose or shifted during packing or shipping.   I just used some gentle force to push the green socket to be flush with the board surface and turned the printer back on, after that the selftest worked fine.

I consistently get this error too (E1 mintemp bed).

To help others who might have this issue, I think it is because the temperature sensor is below 15 degrees (my printer is in my basement, and temperature is a pretty stable 15-18 degrees). If I get the temperature sensor slightly warmer, such as 16 degrees or higher, it prints fine and does not throw this error.

I believe the two mintemp's are set to 15C in latest firmware but obviously there's a tolerance on both the thermistors and what ever you're measuring ambient with. Prusa recommend 20C.

I also had this error and the issue was also the green socket being slightly offset, maybe not properly installed, maybe shipping.. but once I gently reset the socket, the E1 problem disappeared and has not repeated ..

+1 on this.  As soon as both temperatures are 16, the error stops on my machine.  4.2.0 firmware

I just moved mine to a warmer room and waited for it to say temp 16c and 16c, then I worked again ^^

Thanks for the hint!

I found that you can "jumpstart" the printer using a hairdryer: Just blow warm air towards the printer until End and Bed temperature in display reach 16C, than start Preheating.

Same exact conditions with my printer.  Have to warm her up before we play, just like my wife.

@3delight

I had this issue. It was a hard, I will not work issue, and immediately occurred when I tried to preheated, print or changed the temp on settings. Even if the temp set to 16c or 15c (which is what temperature the machine registered).

This issue was fixed with a hairdryer on the hot end before start as outlined above.

This is clearly a Bios/Firmware bug. Please tell me it's fixed in the latest bios/firmware.

If not, why not?
