Mesh bed leveling failed error when doing first layer calibration
I am having problems with my new Mini+ . Mesh bed calibration does not complete successfully when I run the first layer calibration wizard. The head moves to the first four positions on the bed, but then always fails with the error 'Mesh bed leveling failed?' It doesn't give any other information.
I have checked that all cables are seated securely in the control board and as far as I can tell, they are all OK.
Weirdly, if I run the mesh bed leveling directly from the setup menu, it generally completes successfully. But if I then immediately run the first layer calibration wizard, it invariably fails at this point. So to me, this looks like a software issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone encountered the same problem?
Thanks in advance!

Two things that come to mind. First check the height of the Spinda sensor.
Or install the new firmware. It's not official yet, but it works fine for me.

I have this exact problem (on point 5) but no solution so far! I tried adjusting the PINDA and firmware update + factory reset...
RE: Mesh bed leveling failed error when doing first layer calibration
I have finally had a bit of time to look at the problem, and I have solved it.
The problem was the familiar 'X-axis not level issue' that is described in the manual. Initially, I didn't think that this could be the problem here, because a) the axis looked level as far as I could tell, and b) the mesh bed calibration worked OK if I ran it from the setup menu. But I was running out of ideas, so I loosened up the screws and reassembled, paying closer attention to ensuring the X-axis was aligned properly. The printer then started working straight away, and is now churning out some really beautiful prints.
So, alex-32, if you are getting the exact same problem, my advice to you would be to make sure that the Z-axis is absolutely vertical, which should ensure that the X-axis is exactly parallel to the bed. That might well fit the issue easily.
Thank you to everyone who replied!
RE: Mesh bed leveling failed error when doing first layer calibration
Hi Jim, thanks so much for your answer.
I have solved the issue yesterday! I checked the levelling of the bed by turning off the printer, moving the X to the right and lowering the Z manually to touch a card that I placed on the bed. Then, I took out the card and moved the X manually to the left. It was clear that there was a much bigger gap on the left (about 3mm). So I did indeed what you suggested, realigned the XYZ and still exactly the same problem.
I used this article to correct the XZ skew: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/xz-axis-skew-correction-mini_158518
And voila the bed levelling completed successfully!
After this correction I had an issue while doing the first layer calibration, the Z correction had to be lower than -2 (which is not possible), so I made the PINDA a bit higher, afterwards it worked great! 🙂
